Loaded Latitude vs. Trailhawk

Please forgive my ignorance, but until now, I'd pretty much decided on a Trailhawk in Commando Green or Anvil. I don't do tons of off-roading, though my travels do take me down lots of dirt/gravel (untrodden paths, so to speak) and I live in the northeast, so snow. I like the little bit higher profile of the TH, and especially the full-size spare (never been fond of the the newer itty bitty tires - just seems wrong to have but a few inches between me and the road) and I also really like the hood decal (only available on the TH, yes?). And I know Anvil is only available on the TH, but I think I'm fine with the Commando Green.

However, I'm seeing some Latitudes come through that are configured the way I want them, i.e., with navigation. Honestly I could care less re: back up cams and all that stuff and though I'd like to have MySky, I could live without it.

So - dilemma - and I do need a new car, say, within three months. I'm fine waiting to see what else comes through over the next couple of months, but what am I really gaining with the TH that I won't have with a 4WD Latitude?

Can someone enlighten me?

(this PDF should really be put in a sticky note somewhere as it answers tons of questions)

After looking over that spec sheet, here are the differences I see:

1) Leather seats is an option on the trailhawk, but not available on the latitude.

2) trailhawk comes with the large color driver information display while the latitude has the small monochrome driver information display. (I don't believe there is any extra functionality there, just a nicer looking screen)

3) trailhawk has a leather shift knob while the latitude has a vinyl shift knob.

4) some of the driver nannies like lane keep assist and other such things are optional on the latitude but not available on the trailhawk.

Other than those differences and the obvious styling differences which are subjective, I'd say that as far as off road ability, any of the Renegade models should be fine for moderate off roading like dirt/gravel trails. The trailhawk shows its advantages when you start rock climbing or going on mountainous trails where the extra ground clearance, better approach angle, and rock mode make a difference. In winter weather they should all be pretty much the same.

Thank you Eric - still not sure what I'm going to do, but I do have a little time to check them both out. I LOVE your phrase "driver nannies." I swear, within a few years they're gonna take the shear joy of driving out of the equation.

Actually you can add the decal to any model, it's $185 MSRP. There are also other additives worth checking out at the link below.

Just purchased a Jeep Renegade Latitude, got a great price on it although after reading more I think I may have been screwed. Planning on doing quite a bit of off roading with the Jeep and had the dealer tell me the latitude would be perfect for it. I had considered the trailhawk although the roof was taller than I would have preferred for putting stand up paddle boards on it. The dealer told me that they were the same capabilitys the trailhawk just had tow hitch and pull hooks on it and larger tires.

They are installing the towhitch, new bumper and tow hooks this week for free....what do you all think should I return the vehicle and go with the trailhawk from another dealer? Or will the latitude be ok for the off road needs?

If you need more "off road" than a Latitude provides you need a Wrangler.

I have done all the research on them and I think that the jeep reviews done by jeep on their test course tell the full intent on why they made the renegade like they did and the difference of the TH. Google it and there are full in depth videos from jeep on this.

Other than the visual package, the simple feel of the car is totally different. The trailhawk has more of a Jeep feeling drive to it if that makes sense. A little more rugged and rough around the edges. Drive both and decide what you want. As for the stripe, you can add a decal to any car.
