I have a 2015 Renegade 1.4L. Today I went in for an oil change with 9,700 miles on the car. The perform service message has been on for a week now. After the oil change the Jeep tech said he could not figure out how to reset this message. He showed me the way to reset it (by pressing the accelerator pedal 3 three times) and told me I would have to research it. Besides that they said to change the oil every 10k miles, but the sticker he put on the window says 5k. I'm not impressed with the service I got from that Jeep dealership. Any advice on how to reset this message?

That's it. Turn the ignition on and wait for all the normal warning lights to extinguish. Then press and release the gas pedal 3 times (not too quickly or too slowly). Now turn the ignition off. The oil reminder should be reset.

Now what about the 10,000 mile or 1 year service message? Do you get that service done because you're not far from that point, or do you have to take the vehicle back in a couple weeks? If you had that service performed, did they reset the countdown to go off in another year or 10,000 miles? Anyone dealt with this yet? I don't understand how they could put a sticker on the vehicle telling you when you're next oil change is when the vehicle has an oil life monitor, and they know this fact since they sell and service the vehicles.

It's crazy then because the manufacturer warranty repairs are to be performed by the dealerships and the Mopar service contract states that repairs should be completed by the dealership to prevent any voiding of the service plan coverage, but the dealership mechanics don't know the vehicles in and out?

Just had my oil changed at the dealership's quick change and it was really fast and convenient. They turned off the "oil change due" message but they didn't know anything about the "service vehicle" message that will go off at 1 year or 10,000 miles. I'm a little under 8,000 miles so I guess when it illuminates I'll go to a dealership that's closer to me and hope they know about manufacturer recommended maintenance.

I went to 3 dealerships and they are clueless about it. They all think it's for the oil change. I told them that is a separate indicator. I asked them what it involves and they have no idea. I already did an oil change and tire rotation. They also did a multi-point inspection.

Yeah, unbelievable. Then when you take it in for the manufacturer recommended maintenence, they'll recommend the maintenance they think it needs just like they say my next oil change is in 4,000 miles. My old 2004's vehicle oil change interval was 5000 miles. How can 4,000 miles be the generic average for vehicles in 2016? My next oil change will be when the oil life monitor tells me it's time, or before 1 year since the last. I have synthetic and don't drive heavy duty, I'll be alright with following the manufacturer recommendation. I wonder, will I have to take the owners manual into the dealership to show what maintenance is required at 10,000 miles or will they know?
