I noticed the smell when I got my vehicle. It is the type of washer fluid used in Italy that has a higher methanol content than used in north America. Next time you get in a spot check run your window cleaner and see what the cop says as he leans in your window to see if you have been drinking.

I am used to having a low washer level light on the dash. The Renegade and the Renault Scenic before it both haven't got the washer level light. I carry 2.5 litres of mixed screen wash in the boot just in case. The capacity of the washer reservoir on the Renegade (UK spec) is about 3 litres. It takes a while to fully empty the reservoir. I usually check mine every couple of weeks along with the brake fluid, coolant and oil levels. I like to keep me eye on these as prevention is better than cure. OK, so it doesn't need oil. brake fluid or coolant, but I like to check for peace of mind when I top up the screen wash fluid.

Washer Fluid Odor

Has anyone else noticed that when the windshield washer is used the washer fluid smell fills the cabin. I noticed it mostly when the heat was on. The odor is very strong.

Yea, the stuff that came in mine must have a very high alcohol content - smells like isopropanol.

I think the cabin fresh air intake is located below the windscreen.

I think once the factory solution is diluted with your preferred brand, you won't notice it as much.

The first few times I used mine, I noticed the same thing. I siphoned mine out at the beginning of the "snowy season" and replaced it with Prestone De-Icer. Its a different smell, but it's still there.----Nature of the beast. LOL!

Yes. I have never experienced this with any other vehicle.
