Starting this thread for those of us who want to better understand the shipping process from Melfi to the United States & share this information. I know the vehicles are shipped out of the port of Salerno. I have been trying to track ships on the http://www.marinetraffic.com site.
1. Does anyone know of a better way to track?
2. Does anyone know if they are specifically on vehicle carrier ships or can they be on Ro Ro also?
3. Do they specifically use Italian ships or can it be any ship?
4. Will they always go the same route to the US, or go to other countries first, or both?
5. For those of us on the west coast, will they always go by ship around the US to the west coast, or would they ever unload them on the east coast & truck them across?
6. For those of you that have already received your vehicles, I know some of you mentioned you knew what ship your vehicle was on... how did you learn this information?
I figured mine out on marinetraffic.com, It came into the port of Halifax, Nova Scotia, took them 6 hours to unload what they had to and then the ship carried on to NYC. It was on the CSCC Shanghai. I would look under CSCC in the search on marinetraffic to find what car carrier ships there were and went from there.
I have been wondering some of the same things Eileen. I also wonder how long it takes to make the trip across the pond. I am guessing a few weeks or so.
Thanks for posting this - I was about to do the same
I was told by the dealer Friday before last that mine was on a boat on the way to San Diego and ETA for it to arrive THERE was 4 weeks. Not sure how long it would take after that - we are in Seattle. I would love to be able to stock it for the rest of its journey.

OK.... THIS is exciting.... I think our vehicles are on the same Ship...Mine shipped @ the same time! As I figure info out I will keep posting. There are several carriers that I am tracking, but not sure which one it is on. Will post more info tomorrow.....
She just called me back and said it looks like my Jeep is in phase 3 of the 5 step process. I am guessing this is D1. She said they will monitor closely and let me know if anything changes.
Explains what might be happening with some of the shipping.... It's great that they are looking at ways to expedite shipping which will really be helpful as they produce more & more vehicles. I was amazing that a carrier can hold 25,000 vehicles.... blew my lil pee brain mind!
So I take it that cars shipped from Melfi go to Baltimore on the east coast and from there get to the west coast by truck, train or by another boat from Baltimore via the Panama Canal? Anyone Know?

TS
They go by ship via Panama Canal to the west coast & think it takes about another week. I have about 7-8 ships I'm tracking to see what they end up doing. They do make other stops along the way...
When did you order yours? Mine hit on 6/30 JB (though, they didn't call it that) last week, after having the order finally placed 6/1 (even though I was told by the dealership is had been placed 5/1). It looks like some have taken as few as 11-12 weeks... so just curious.
I ordered mine on 5/28 and it went "I" last at midnight. It now is "JB". I figure I am still a month or so out before maybe getting it. I have just been worried because I wasn't getting straight answers from them or the dealer. Every time I called I was told something different. I received this new info today from another forum that has an inside person with FCA that can track your orders. He has been more accurate than anybody else.

Saw your updated status!! Man, How'd you get on the fast tract? LOL Very exciting! Good to see someone's order moving along. But over a whole month of waiting after it is already in Baltimore in torturous! Happy for you!!!!
Got this out of my dealer today - but wasn't able to find one that looked right using marinetraffic.com - are there any other sources we can use to stalk vehicle carriers?
"Unfortunately the system doesn’t tell me what boat it shipped on. It does say it shipped from Antwerp Port, BE on 6/22 and is estimated to arrive in San Diego 7/18. Of course that is an estimate and could change. They do ship them by truck from San Diego."
I think you're right! If you look at the arrival date from Antwerp, and the time in transit on that line, the math works. Let the full fledged cyber-stalking begin!!
They better bring us our vehicles!!! (I'd take a blanket too) LOL Praying both of ours are on there!! If they are on there, I wonder how long it will take us to be notified..... Of course instead of messing around in the water because they are ahead of schedule, they could have arrived a day early... We'd of been OK with that!
If I calculated the time zone as UST (Zulu time) then they are allowed to dock at 2am PST. Just hope no delays at the docks for us all on the west coasting anxiously awaiting our Rennies.
Well I might have FUBAR'd myself by ordering two, a TH for me and a Limited for the wife, on one dealer order... just found out that while my TH has been sitting in Antwerp since 5/28, my wife's just showed up there on 7/2. Darn it!
Just saw that it's moored - assume they need to be checked through customs and such and loaded onto trucks - suspect that could take a couple of days. Soooooon!
Well we do a lot of guess work but if you look up the Marine Traffic website and see what vehicle carriers are leaving Melfi Italy then watch its port destination and hope for the best. If you know a professional stalker they maybe willing to assist in your Rennie stalking more then us amatures.
