hill start lock-up on new 9 spd

My brand new (less than 1400 miles) Sport with a 9 spd. locked up, would not shift out of park and could not move. Screen said service engine, hill start something. Finally got it to go to neutral but parking brake wouldn't release. All of a sudden it starts rolling back when I took my foot off the brake pedal. Got it in neutral but couldn't shut off engine. Roll-back shows up and had to drag Jeep up on the deck. Anyone have this problem? I need some expertise on this before I start jumping on te dealership. Thanx

This is pretty novel sounding. I'm guessing e-e-brake is fubar, possibly other things, and as a consequence hill start assist has been disabled.

Could try checking the brake pedal switch.

Garage
Had a similar issue with the electronic parking brake not disengaging. I have the manual so I could put in gear but Jeep wouldn't budge. Had to disconnect the battery in the store parking lot for 5 minutes for the system to reset. At least we have an easy tool free way to disconnect the battery.

e-brake was designed stupidly by some kids who are full of themselves (know it all)

If it is absolutely has to be a push button:
The renegade button is also placed right in the middle bottom console.
If that is on the front next to AC facing down, it would be better.

They mostly get placed where the handbrake previously was on most European manual cars.
More or less roughly where your hand used to go to. Give-or-take a few inches.

As the handbrake isn't used so much in the US I can see why it'd seem weird.

I'm not a fan.
