Autel MaxiPro MP808k

I was wondering if anyone had played with this or one of its predecessors, and their thoughts on it. The MP808k os supposed to be an upgraded version of the MP808 and does a few more things. Mostly getting it to learn some things as well as if I notice something funny with my Renegade or a family member or friend has something going on with their vehicle I hopefully after learning it will be able to narrow it down beyond the code that can be a billion different things pertaining to system xyz.

Thanks
Ronin

I worked as a mechanic for many years. I bought an Autel and it failed me terribly.
I won't/wouldn't buy another one.
I have an OBD link (equivalent) and software on my smart phone. It really work well. Really.

The problem was, after 1 year it was time to renew the software, the software was expensive and became vehicle specific.

And they wanted a lot of money for each brand of vehicle (i.e. $200. for GM, $250 for Chrysler, very expensive for BMW, Audi's, VW, each). and when I did renew (Chrysler only), the scanner stopped working after about a month. I called Autel, sorry dude, it is out of warranty...

I was out the scanner and the $250 for the software.

Yeah now its 1k everything subscription no specific minus something that you have to go to the make for a subscription to get one of their codes for access. Cheaper to just buy another. But whatever you have on the tool when it ends stays active just no updates/improvements

Wanted to make note of a discovery. 2016 and newer for us Renegade owners and 2018 and newer (plus or minus a few years on select models) of Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram vehicles. We have a module called a Secure Gateway Module which prevents any and all commands minus code reading from any OBDII connector. This is because the Cherokee hack and control a while back. We have to get a special connector a 12+8 pin, disconnect out SGM and plug the this connector into the 2 plugs that were plugged into the SGM. Ours is by the OBDII Plug up kinda around the brake pedal. Luckily its not like the ram pickup its behind/under the radio. So we can only read no erasing, bi directional etc. unless we plug this special connector in.
