Trailhawk Rear bumper mods

I've seen some pics of the trailhawks rear bumpers and since the tow hook is attached to them they must be pretty sturdy / sturdily attached to the vehicle. I'm wondering if anyone has thought of using the stock trailhawk hitch and just welding a 2 inch receiver onto it to use for a bike rack or towing. From the guys that have seen them or added other hitches, does the beam seem strong or is is just strengthened by the tow hook? Is it like 1/8 inch steel or less..

Talking about this bumper:

and welding on of these in, and cutting a hole for access:

nothing is better than the factory hitch receiver which is mounted to structural members of the car. Welding to the bumper will not work for long and may void your warranty.

If you really want to add a hitch and you dont want to pay for the factory after the fact... Avid essentials. Looks awesome and is fully functional.

I can't imagine that bumper is more affordable than a factory hitch install. Nice bumper by the way.

The labor will be extensive, and the hitch will be minimal. The bumper has to come off for the hitch install, why not replace it with something more sturdy AND better looking AND better departure angle!

The price is more worth it to replace with Avid.

I've got the Avid Rear Bumper with Tire Carrier. This whole bumper/hitch system mounts straight to the frame and is sturdy as NAILS. Hitch receiver is built in, and stronger than what the renegade is rated to tow from the factory. It increases your approach/departure angles, looks sick in the powder coated black, 2 recovery points and your spare tire compartment can be used for all your trail needed goodies (I keep all my straps, d-rings and snatch block in the now empty compartment). I swear by the Avid products... I also did the Wyoming front bumper and paired it with the Warn 96800 series 8000lb winch...

If you're gonna go... Go all out and to my experience Avid makes the best. If you're looking for other accessories, Valkyrie made my light bar brackets, the limb risers and the ladder.

That roof rack was on Amazon, the Tyger Super Duty XL. It does REQUIRE you have the cross bars, I also got those on Amazon. I can vouch that the roof rack is strong as all get out and stands up to weather like a champ! I literally climbed my ladder, stood on the rack (I weigh in at about 185lbs/84kg) and loaded it for my road trip from St. Paul, MN to San Antonio, TX. On the return trip we ran into rain, that turned into freezing rain, that then turned into snow with rain, that then turned into purely snow. Road salt, road sanding, cold, all forms of precipitation and it holds up TOUGH!
