Engine swaps on modern cars are not very practical but not impossible. I would not want the extra weight in the front. Somehow shoehorning a Hellcat motor driving the rear wheels in a Renegade might be fun for street use though. But very impractical.

This is a funny topic to me. My opinion is that if you feel an engine swap is a desired modification to your Renegade, you bought the wrong vehicle (seems to me many participants on this forum bought the wrong vehicle).

Now if you have a spare Renegade lying around and money burning a hole in your pocket, I think mounting the shell of the Renegade body on the chassis/power plant/drive line of another vehicle is the only way you're going to get a running vehicle with a different engine -that looks like a Renegade. Then, for your next project, mount a smart car body on the left-over Renegade chassis.

I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from taking on an engine swap. Have fun!

I like lots of power too; like my 6.4 Hemi in my car. But you couldn't put one in the Renegade even if it would fit and expect the driveline to last more than a mile.

Most modern vehicles seem to have drivelines robust enough for the engine they're built with and not handle much more torque.

I've done swaps. Lots of fabrications. Wiring harnesses. Computers, etc. Anything can be done. For me, the project, the building, is fun and enjoyable. Taking something that was built one way. And making something entirely different. Work.
