Question Manual Trans 1.4L and Tow Hitch

I've got a 2017 Renegade Latitude, the manual transmission with the 1.4L engine. Jeep recommends NOT "towing" anything with this model. However, I'd like to have a tow hitch installed for one purpose: to mount my bicycle to the back of the vehicle. My bike barely weighs 30 pounds, if that (aluminum frame bike). I have the roof racks installed, but putting a bike up there, and taking it off for riding, is a big pain, not to mention issues with low bridge clearances; having it mounted to the back is much safer and more convenient.

Any recommendations for or against doing this?

By virtue of not attempting to hookup electricals, it should show you carried, not towed.

2015 white Sport 4x4 M6, Air and Power packages, added Renegade 17 snowflakes and roof rails.
