Look for cars with a Carfax you can look into. Electrical issues will usually result in visits to the dealership while in-warranty, so if you can find a one-owner car without many service visits for anything other than scheduled maintenance, you should theoretically be in good shape. I just bought a preowned 2017 latitude, so I feel some of that trepidation about electronics issues, but my 2016 Sport 1.4t I traded in was a champ, so maybe the issues are magnified a little too much by unhappy internet peoples.
