Dealer Coincidence or not

Well yesterday I had my Renegade in to have the drivers door speaker replaced. Got it back at 11:00 am the same day. That afternoon I was out checking it over like I always do and found a small chip and dent on the rear quarter. Most the times I would just think damn car door or rock, but I only drove maybe 1 mile up the street and parked and didn't hear any loud rock hit it.

This is the second time I had my car into the dealership and the second time I found dent/scratch the next day, the first one is high on the drivers door and it about 3 inches long and slightly dented.

I've contacted the dealership to make them aware, but I just know they won't take credit for it. Anyone else run into something like this?

Thanks, jjp

Yeah after my very first service I got a really tiny ding at the bottom of rear driver's side door. Only noticed it after I got home - mistake on my part. I called right after I saw it and the person answering said everyone in service dept. was leaving for the day.

Had the Batman v. Superman badge stolen off of my recently purchased Renegade after I dropped it off at the dealership for detailing. Left two scratches near the area where it looks like they used a screwdriver or key to pry it off. Luckily I noticed it before I left. I don't think instances such as these are a coincidence at all. I've never had an excellent experience at any dealership unfortunately.

I have a friend who repairs scratches at dealerships for a living, so it must happen a lot! He said many of the scratches he repairs are damage done at the dealer, not fixing trade-ins. He said he's pretty sure the owners don't know about it sometimes.

And that is why I prefer to do as much of my own maintenance, even if it is/should be covered under warranty for smaller items. It is just easier than dealing with the hassle and usually having to go back and re-fix what they did. Had a friend who took his Cherokee into the local shop for valve cover gaskets. He opened the hood before leaving to find half the radiator shroud just sitting there. Guess they had to pull in to get the job done, but broke the clips and instead of owning up to it thought the owner would never know.

I do have one Honda dealership that I will take my Pilot to for larger work. They were doing the timing belt/water pump replacement and a new guy dropped the alternator. It only broke the plastic cover and they could have just put it on and called it good, but called me and apologized that they would need it an extra day to get the new alternator in.

Driver door speakers must have a high failure rate. I see it a lot in here. This was the first thing I had the dealer do after 1 week of ownership. I noticed the whole door would vibrate when bass sound was playing. Dealership ended up replacing the door speaker. When they did this the interior rubber window/door lining was all scratched up and bunched/wadded up near the door hinge side. I noticed it right away and pointed it out, saying "really" "did you really think I would not notice"
