New Renegade, have it made!

Hi everyone,

I'm out of Austin, Texas, and just picked up a Renegade over the weekend. Couldn't be happier - even though it's a FWD, it has been tearing through the hills west of the city without any difficulty.

I'm really excited about the possibilities with this vehicle (I see plenty of Big Bend and Guadalupe Mountains trips in the near future!). I'm also happy to be dipping my toes in the Jeep world, and hope to learn a lot from you all. A weekend spent watching videos of Rubicon and Moab has got me thinking that this might be a hobby that lasts the rest of my life.

While most would scoff at a FWD vehicle in off-road situations, you would be surprised at how cable even the FWD Renegade is. I've gotten it to places where my Land Cruiser buddies gazed in awe because of the seemingly impossible feat. One of them even said, "that thing shouldn't have made it here".

The good entry, break-over, and departure angles, with a short wheelbase, and a driver who recognizes his limitations and is capable of choosing the best path can go farther than many would expect.

However, be judicious, keep in mind you have a traction disadvantage, an articulation, disadvantage, and probably lack recovery actions. Don't bite more than you and the Renegade can chew and you should be fine.

You will love this little Jeep!
