Renegade Upgrades for 4x4 adventures

Looking to gain and share information about setting up a 2017 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. I've upgraded the tires to the Cooper Discoverer A/T3, added a roof basket and aluminum hitch mounted basket for hauling equipment.

I'm looking for help removing my front tow hooks, to mount my Rocky Road Outfitters winch bumper and Smittybilt 9.5 ton winch. The lights for the winch bumper are coming after it is mounted.

I live on the edge of the Sierra National Forest, between Kings Canyon & Yosemite National Parks, at 2,600 feet in elevation. I'm really looking forward to taking advantage of seeing the beautiful scenery that my Renegade can get me to. There are not a lot of people who go to these places, so it's nice to feel like you're all alone in the world. Of course if you get stuck back there, it could be a problem getting out; which is why I'm trying to setup the Jeep Renegade so if I do get stuck, I can get out.

I spent 21 years at a park ranger peace officer, 4x4'ing and riding dirt bikes for work; however we weren't expected to damage the vehicles getting to and from places as a norm. Had to use more than 1 tree and a jack to winch myself out a couple of times. Hoping to not mess up my Renegades body.

Opened up the box with the Rocky Road Outfitters winch mount bumper. It is well done, heavy and has nice tabs above for mounting lights. The procedure to mount it is pretty straight forward and the instructions are clear.

The bumper will mount with the front tow-hook bolts. The tow-hooks will remain and be on the bottom of the winch mount bumper.
The bolts came out easy with an 18mm socket. I put cooper anti-seize compound on the treads and put everything back in place. As per the directions, I will need cut a slot in the plastic bumper to slide the winch mount in place. I didn't do it today, as this will be a 2 person job. The directions are clear, once you know the winch mount will fit, you must mount the winch to the mounting bumper and slide everything into place for attachment. Once the mounting bumper is on, you can't mount the winch. I'm thinking this will weigh 200 or more pounds; other than the weight it should be easy with a 2'nd person & a hydraulic jack.
