LED DRL/Turn Signal Housings

Anyone with experience with this upgrade? Replacing the entire DRL/turn signal housings with integrated LED DRL/turn signal switchback assemblies. Downloaded the service procedure for housing replacement and it's clear you do not have to remove bumper to replace. All done through splash guard area (maybe as easy as through the bulb access panel).

Other than the cosmetic change, not real happy the DRL does not turn off with the turn signal at night so really like the switchback feature.

Seems like there are two styles out there, the ijdm style (with external load resistors) and the other integrated one (just inquired with seller if load resistors required as they are not mentioned in auction). I guess last option is to turn off DRL feature completely.

I've been eyeing this out for some time now. Going to get a set with income tax this year.

Of course ebay. Decided on style 1. Could not get answers on the load resistors for style 2, and only going by the pics, the quality appears to be more "aftermarket" and not as bright versus style 1. Happened to find them on Amazon so they should be here tomorrow night!

Arrived! Really pleased with the quality and light output so far! They are indeed amber/off switchbacks. With constant power applied to the DRL, the DRL will switch off when the turn signal voltage is applied then turn back on about 2 seconds after turn signal power removed.

The turn signal brightness may be brighter once installed - my 12volt test source was quickly overloading and turning off due to the hyper flash resistor.

These look really nice, could almost be a factory part. Looking forward to pictures of them installed.

Fail!

So before I started the install, I unplugged the factory DRL/turn and plugged in the LED units. Turned on the ignition, headlight switch in auto (dark enough for headlights on) all is fine. DRL's are on and no errors.

Activating left/right turn signal causes a rapid tick sound inside but actual exterior lights are not hyper flashing (but a little faster than oem). Then get both the DRL light error and turn signal error. These are the units that have the external hyper flash resistor in parallel with the turn signal. Oh well. Form=1, function=0.

Don't know why I get the turn signal error with the resistors installed. And I guess the switchback is causing the DRL error (the BCU is commanding the DRL always on with headlights on, the switchback turns off the DRL internally). So the LED DRL's in these things are already canbus compatible?

Ebay link is for thre drl's i got, and they work perfect. The white had a glow, as well as the led's i changed on my rear drl's/brake/turn/ and reverse bulbs. I ordered these resistors from Amazon, added 2 to thre drl whites and traced down the taillight wires to put them inline, and no more annoying noob-looking afterglow or light out error messages. The wiring doesn't look great, and i might splice, solder, and heat shrink everything to make it look cleaner, but it works 100%.
