How To: Update Uconnect....for the MAC guys

Since I am a MAC guy at home, and new to the whole Uconnect update, decided to try and figure it out and do a write up for others that are MAC people at home.

4GB Flash Drive minimum
MAC laptop or desktop
Windows Boot Camp or access to Windows pc

First off, I have an old laptop that is running Windows 10 just incase I need it, otherwise I do everything on a MAC.

Take your flash drive and plug it into a windows pc or if you Boot Camp your MAC load into Windows. You need to format the flash drive to NTFS. Most flash drives come in a FAT32 format.

Once formatted, you can plug it into your MAC or reboot your MAC into MAC OS X.

Go to and put your VIN in to see if you have an update available. I tried to download the special software, but it said my browser was not supported. I tried Chrome, Safari, and even IE 11.....oh well.

I chose the direct download for the zip file and downloaded it.

Once it finished, I double clicked it to open it. It unzipped it all into one folder.

Now you just need to copy the swdl.iso file to your flash drive.

Take the flash drive to your renegade and plug it into the USB port in the center console. I had to choose the USB 2 connection and it took a minute for the message to pop up that there is an update and YES or NO if I wanted to do it.

Took about 20 minutes and the radio rebooted.

Maybe an admin will sticky this for future use.

I think it maybe a problem of incompatible formats or too many files.I suggest you can try to format your drive on Mac.
1. Open Terminal and type: diskutil partitionDisk /dev/disk2 2 GPT ExFAT Volume1 50% ExFAT Volume2 R
2. Open DiskUtility
3. "View" on the top toolbar
4. Show all devices
Then I had a partition that would not mount...
5. Erase disk2s3 with the ExFAT format
6.too many files. Every time you want to permanently delete files on your USB drive, you donít have to format it again. You can just use a reliable file shredder to conveniently erase files in a secure way.
iMac-Cleaner File Shredder does just that. You can use it to delete confidential files on your Mac, external hard drives, and SD cards as well.
