Hello, this is my second post today, I've searched forum, and didn't found information on this topic, so decided to create new title.

I've bought brand new 1.6 diesel Multijet 130PS Jeep Renegade Limited. It is with me for around 30-40 days, and now it has about 3500 kilometers. I am very pleased with how it drives, how it pulls, it is very well equipped, great little Jeep.

I just have few questions for others who have this engine.

When I'm somewhere between 1500-2000 RPMs in neutral, 1st and 2nd gear, if I jerk the throttle, push it little harder, engine responds with sudden, loud, old tractor like sound, almost like a rattle. In all other gears, it works smoothly. Above 2000 RPMs that sound is gone.

Also if I build up RPMs gently it has smooth sound. I have called dealership, they told me that I'm not the only one who noticed that, and that it's normal for that engine because it has some special tensioners and engine mounts, basically something that protects dual mass flywheel from high torque and so on and so on... I am not buying it, and still can't get over it, so I decided to post this question here to see if anyone else has noticed that sound??

Also, something else I noticed from the first day I had it. Sometimes when I want to hold throttle fixed in first and second gear, around 2000-2200 RPM, car shakes, like it doesn't know if I want to accelerate or decelerate. If I push the throttle from that point it responds normally, without lag. Also if I release the throttle it responds normally.
Just on that tiny margin it stutters. They also told me that it's all about those special tensioners and engine mounts, and that it is completely normal, and not to worry.

Sorry about this longer post, but I am really interested to see if anyone else noticed those issues on 1.6 Multijet, before I drive it of to a dealership for them to take a look.

might need a go pedal from maddness autoworks to correct throttle hesitation. all jeep models seem to have a throttle acceleration problem.renegade jeeps just seem to be full of problems. i have beat mine to death, quick acceleration, hard turns, quick stops, etc. it is like training a dog and seams to work, it purrs like a kitten with hard punishment

It's a diesel. They sound like a tin of spanners at the best of times.

Check the oil level and top up if needed then check for the noise again.

Check all hoses associated with the turbo for cracks/leaks.

Yeah, ofc. diesel sound is something i'm familiar with, it is not my first diesel car.

Oil level is good, car has only about 3000 km, practically new, and hoses are allright.

Something i noticed yesterday is, when I first start my car, it is quiet, sounds normal. When it gets to temperature, on certain rpms, and on throttle push, it sounds like an old tractor, and that sound lasts until restart. For example, when i'm at lights, it turns off (start/stop system), and when it turns on back, sound is completely normal.

You can easily differentiate when it sounds ok, and when it's not. It is really noticable.

Maybe i'm overthinking it, maybe it has some kind of witchcraft installed, that for whatever reason turns something on and off, and that changes something that changes the sound.

But surely, thanks for reply.

Yeah, i noticed that. All diesels cars love low rpms, from 1500-2500, but this thing loves to revv, it works best between 2200 and 3500 rpms. Which is odd, because it has peak torque on 1750 rpms. It just works rough at that rpm, especcialy when in low gears.
As i said, i am very pleased with car, just wanted to know if this behavior and sound is normaln or not.

It doesn't appear to be normal.
Blocked injectors are mentioned on Fiat and Alfa forum threads as a possible cause for rattling.

Could try running some injector cleaner through. I use Wynn's.

Thanks for reply. I hope I will find out what it is on monday, since i'm going to my dealer for checkup. It is odd, sometimes it works great, and sometimes it just barks loudly when i push the throttle. Sometimes when it happens, i turn it off, wait few minutes, turn it on, and it sounds normal.
