Took 4 days to fix

5000 miles, check engine light is on again, more to come.
This was a strange one, no error code, Dealer said could not get me in until 6 days from now. Asked if it was ok to drive, didn't know. On my way home I stopped to get gas. Check engine light went out. Now there is no gas cap to be loose to cause this. Any ideas how to prevent this in the future?

Which temperature sensor? There are many of them in the vehicle. Coolant, trans, the outdoor temp sensor in the mirror, etc.

As for the check engine light, it can have a billion causes, the vast majority of them have nothing to do with gas caps. Most of the emission ones are based on drive cycles, so it going off may have nothing to do with the act of filling the system, but the fact you turned off the vehicle and started it again.

It's likely fine to drive. Pretty much anything where the MIL can go back off is a drive cycle emissions test thing and won't leave you stranded.
