Given that the more powerful diesel will only be available with an automatic, does anybody know what Jeep does to bump the 2.0L diesel from 140hp to 170hp?

I realize doing this on your own might invalidate the warranty but wonder if maybe Jeep might offer it as a dealer upgrade thus allowing the warranty to remain intact.

This could be a great upgrade for those of us with the 6 speed manual. Anybody from the European side of this forum have any opinions or insight?

I guess the only difference should be that they have a different Setting in the ECU ... but the service teams don´t have any other answer in lack of having a 170 HP engine in hands to check over here in Germany ... Transmission and clutches are different to but that´s obvious different between 6 speed manual and automatic versions ...

Likely it's a mix of things, internal engine work and more likely air and fuel components along with ECU tuning. That's if they don't try to push individual things too hard.
