Hey, just curious what this could be or should i bring it in? Been about 2 and a half years with this vehicle and there seems to be a steady knocking noise when accelarating in drive or reverse at low speeds (below 10 mph) and has been doing so for quite some time. Never really put much thought into it and im at 25k miles. Is this something major i should bring back to the dealership? Im on basic warranty 30 k miles

In Oz the recommended fuel for the 2.4L TigerShark is Premium (92 or 93 RON - high octane) using the lower octane fuel results in the pre-ignition of the fuel & valve knock.

FIAT but the MultiAir on the Chrysler 2.4L TigerShark engine.
Oops! OZ Premium fuel is 95 or 98 RON.
It's the same engine, BUT I don't understand why Australia & USA have different recommended fuels!?

BUT use what your manual states. 87 AKI.

When did you start to notice the knocking? (a thud or more of a tick?)
Is it getting louder?

Does it get faster with the revs?
Dose it disappear as the revs increase?
Have you done the specified oil & filter changes?

Have you been topping the oil up for 2 and a half years?
Are you using the recommended 100% synthetic oil? Or something cheaper?
Are you needing to top up more now?

There are too many variables!
Perhaps a visit to a mechanic is required?

Knocking notice: almost since the beginning of owning the car

Appears upon accelaration steadily and does not seem to dissappear

Specified oil changes, yes

Topping off oil, one time in the winter it went below fill line during warm read at tip of dipstick. Immediate oil change the following day as low oil came on during a turn.

Always used full synthethic 0w-20

Should i make a video for you guys to id the sound? Its very very low and unnoticeable unless its dead quiet out. Curious why the manual says a knock is normal. It only occurs while accelerating

It does not sound like rod knock as it is sporadically loud from what ive seen. Its like a very low hum and only occurs upon pressing gas to accelerate

The low pitch knock is consistent with the manual but theres a loud noise upon takeoff or low mph. I will take a video to show to yall. Appreciate the help.

For two and a half years you've heard this knocking?
You have had all the specified services?
You have 5000 miles left on your Warranty?

The Dealer has suggested a Carbon Clean? Because of knocking?
But Carbon does not explain two and a half years of knocking!
Is the knocking getting worse?

BUT nobody else thinks the knocking is a problem?
Do you think the Dealer is waiting for the Warranty to end?

Perhaps some members in Canada may be able to help?

Could it be an engine mount?

The low pitch knock is consistent with the manual heres the two videos as promised one parking going back and forth and driving. If in at an angle theres a loud song but im assuming it may be the old driveshaft and a combo with my afternarket tires and rims (running a 17” wheel i believe?)

https://youtu.be/CJ8_Je4uefQ

https://youtu.be/TRNaKiNIHGM

The noise in particular is clearer in the parked situation. Me driving forward then reverse (the clunk is me switching gears)

I don't hear anything concerning.
