Exactly why I do ALL my own maintenance. :(
My favorite was the Costco guy who I asked to use a torque wrench a while back. He used the impact gun first, then went around with the torque wrench but they all instantly went "click-click-click" without moving, and he was happy. I pointed out that the only thing he measured is that the lugs are AT LEAST the recommended torque setting, but possibly much much higher, and that's not how you use a torque wrench. He just said that's normal procedure and walked away dismissively. Sure enough, I couldn't get them off the truck myself even using a long breaker bar as they were probably 200ftlbs and had to get help.

1st Tire Rotation "Walmart" Screwed Up (1) Ea. Lug Bolt on Tire Rotation Removing the 1st Bolt on 1st Tire. go to madness auto and buy a set without the chrome cap. the chrome cap expands and you have to hammer the socket onto the lug nut to remove. just a bad design, change before you get stuck somewhere and your lug wrench will not fit on the lugs

old problem many threads on this, go to madness motor and buy unwrapped lug bolts, you will be glad you did, because the chrome wrapped bolts will continue to give you problems

Here is a link these are very similar to what I bought. If you buy the silver zinc coated ones like the ones I bought they are $36 on this website. Do yourself a favor and switch them all out ASAP. My break pad change literally took me 4 days of hassle because some not so bright lube tech had a impact and cranked mine on too tight! Pic is of lug sans cap (oh fun surprise without the cap it’s a half size socket you need to remove it). If worried about buying from this website buy from NAPA they carry them but a set will run about $70 + shipping. They are m12 x 1.25 . My Jeep dealer quoted me $300 to replace all of them with the same factory capped lugs. Don’t get me wrong I love my Jeep this is just a part that needs to be replaced!

Is the photo shown the bolt you bought from NAPA or from Renegade Ready? Thank you, Chelzy

... to the forum.

Do a search on Amazon for LUG BOLT 12x1.25 Wheel Lug Shank 28 mm.

This way you can chose the color and security that best suites your needs.

For example: 20 Pc 12x1.25 Black Spline Tuner Conical Lug Bolt Replacement - 28 MM Factory Length

Keep in mind, you will need 20 of them. If you have wheel spacers, you will need to add the spacer width, in millimeters to the length of the lug bolt.
for example: 28 mm is factory length. If you have 1 inch spacers you will need 50mm lug bolts (I used 48mm lug bolts for my 1 inch spacers and they fit perfectly).
If you go too long, the lug bolts will hit the spindle, too short, they won't hold enough and/or strip out.

I picked up these lug bolts to replace the originals on my Renegade. Whoever owned it originally had overtightened and damaged the caps on one wheel. The replacements are not identical in size, but they match where it counts. The polished head is indistinguishable from the original once installed. The first image shows a replacement (top) and original (bottom).
