I took my jeep in and they could not get it to throw a code and they didn't witness it happening. I asked them to check the spark plugs/ ignition coils because another forum had mentioned that being an issue with theirs. They pulled the coils and the #2 coil looked bad. They did not have any in stock so they taped it and greased it. Told me it should be fine but if not to let them know and they will order one. It lurches even harder now. So I'm getting it replaced. But just wanted to update everyone so they can check that as well if having this issue.
I'm not fixed. It's still lurching. I asked about the transmission reset and computer reset and update and was told they were done before but I can schedule again to have it retried. At $150 and not a guaranteed fix- I am leery.
Update- my dealership told me that they are waiting for an Update to the software for renegades and pacificas. They are both reporting the same lurching issues. The dealership cannot do anything until the Update is released.

I had problem, dealer didn't know what to do in 2020 for my 2017 trahawk so he changed my engine without initial approval as I have a lifetime warranty, my mileage still not same and the violent kicking is starting again (soft kicking around March, april). Not again. : (
So updating program in vehicle should help? Read something regarding this or do I say something again to same dealer several times and the Lemon Law rules kick in again??

Just bought my wife a 2017 latitude with 78k miles .. 2 days later we are getting the same bump / jerk around 30mph it feels like someone tapped us from behind. I hope I didn’t throw away 13k. I’m regretting buying an American car, never again.

This sounds frustrating! Our team recommends a dealership visit for your concerns. If you decide to get an appointment set up and need some support, let us know.

LOL you mean stealership ? I’d never go to a rip off dealership
So what I am being told when I call is that this is a major issue with renegades and pacificas. They dealerships are waiting on the software update to fix it. I have called Chrysler field office multiple times and they pass it back to the dealer EVERY TIME. My car didn't do this until a year or so ago. I want it fixed. I don't want to bring it in to the dealer for them to run diagnostics on it AND CHARGE ME TO DO SO when there is no fix yet. Jeep needs to fix this immediately!! At what point do we need to do a class action? There are multiple threads on this forum mentioning this issue. Some from 2018. its getting REAL OLD! I took a video the other day of the way my jeep acts going downhill too. The rpms rev erratically and the car acts very strange. My niece and nephew are getting their licenses soon. They would freak out if that happened to them. Possibly lose control of the car. We need answers and a resolution.

Yes mine does that as well! i think it’s bs cause it makes me worry is it the transmission? cause at 2017 it should not need this allready! I will sue jeep if it breaks down
Jolting at 25mph immediately conjured up an image of an inexperienced driver whom has selected a gear that is too high for the speed they are doing.

I know my Jeep 4x4 Longitude (manual, diesel) can do 25mph in 4th gear extremely comfortably. 5th gear and it will get a little tempremental and start to ever so slightly judder but if I merely accelerate a little to 30mph I can alleviate the juddering and at 35mph to 40mph I can drop into 6th gear.

Now this is important I have my Jeep chipped however any modern car, never mind a Jeep should be able to sit at 30mph in 4th gear without jolting.

Are you therefore driving in the appropriate gear at the appropriate moment depending upon the terrain you on whilst taking into consideration the incline or decline that you are traversing?
I have noticed on my 2022 Renegade 1.3t is while accelerating from 4th gear into 5th gear is that when release the throttle right before its shift point the transmission jolts into the next gear which is accompanied by an audible thump. It seems like normal operation to me, so far its been a sporty and exciting car.. I just have questions on oil viscosity. My 1.3 does sound noisy sometimes, but it is not so much ticking as it is the clicking sound of the components within the engine functioning normally. Could this be a result of OW-30? I have only used regular fuel (87). Could this also be a result of using low grade fuel?

Seems like it could be a lack luster attempt on FCA's coding of these transmissions, but, I think when you involve the 4x4 mode along with all the different ride modes on the Renegade it can become very hard, nearly impossible, to ensure that no issues will arise--even with proper maintenance and preventative care. This can become a strain on the modules ability to adapt, leading to quirky instances of harsh shifting and jolting.

This is my theory as most fixes are not mechanically related to the transmission, therefore, they are serviced via software flashes.
As for how it drives now, it does "feel" different . Hard to explain but shifts seem more immediate. Since my problem was so random, I don't know if this fixed it or not; only time will tell. I did notice that on the ride home I take a highway with a 65mph limit. Where my Renegade would usually get to 9th gear, yesterday it never made it out of 8th.
wow it seems we all have the same issue with the jerking at random times, i allready did that recall on the codes too! i’m still paying my jeep off and i’m pretty pissed about it doing this! These jeep’s are lemons and with soo many people complaining i think we are entitled to some sort of money back or the fix to be done! I heard there is a lemon law for 2017 and up with transmission issues!

The same issue is occurring with my 2017 Renegade Latitude. I was really happy when I purchased it. The initial issue arose some time ago. It appeared to be stalling by jumping. It was OK when I took it in. It has resurfaced in the last several weeks and is now worse than previously. jumping, lunging, and making a stalling motion. For four days, I can't even persuade them to glance at it. What is happening is unclear to me.
