2017 Jeep Renegade Manual Service Engine Light after Software Override

I have just under 50K on my manual transmission. The car has always run well. I have never had any issues and have regularly had oil changes and multi-point inspections at the dealership. I took my car in to the dealership for a routine oil change. I was told that there was a software override needed, as the technician could not disengage the service oil light. They had the car for 2.5 hours. When they returned the car, the oil change light was still on. After several attempts to disengage it, they instructed that I needed to schedule a follow up as there was now an issue with the service oil light not turning off. I looked on the internet and disengaged it myself. I drove my car home. The next morning, I started my car and began driving down the street. The car would not accelerate. At first, I thought the engine was just cold (something I had never experienced). I traveled less than a mile, and the service engine light came on, with the engine warning light blinking. I was luckily able to make a U-turn and coast home. My question has to do with fiddling with the software on these cars. My car is back at the dealership and has yet to be diagnosed. From certain posts that I have read, some cars never drive the same after interference with the software. Unfortunately, our local dealership has not had qualified mechanics for over a year. I am concerned that they have messed up my perfectly-running vehicle. Are there any tips/suggestions from anyone in order to get my car back to original software/running specs?
