Hello, new to the community. I was curious I believe I have the 5" uconnect radio for my 2017 jeep renegade and I learned that they made the carplay option for the 2017 jeep renegade would it be possible to get a 2018 model and put it in my jeep and if so what size could I look for if I can go bigger I would like to but need to know what I can and can't do. Wanting to stick with the OEM radio just from a different jeep.

But does it have the carplay option? I know the 2018s have the carplay option and that is the main feature I am after but wanting to keep the functions of the radio, such as steering wheel controls, backup cam, etc.
I have no idea what car play is. It can hook up to the internet takes voice commands. What are you looking to do exactly
Mine has all options except for my sky

Car play is the android auto version for apple. Just wanting to change the radio head unit to one that has that, maybe with a bit bigger screen.
oh yeah. I'm pretty sure mine has that i remember seeing it when i disabled as much of that crap as i could. I can check it tomorrow and get back to you. The owners manual is about 400 pages long and i had jeep send me the full version. What do you use it for?

I went down this route trying to find an 8" screen and bezel etc, it was a frustrating nightmare, I eventually went aftermarket Pioneer DMH-WC6600 NEX, wireless carplay, wireless AA, install with a Maestro RR and you will keep your steering wheel controls, back up camera, ac controls etc and you'll have much better cleaner sound quality.

Things you'll lose:
1. Compass, thats built into the radio.
2. Aux port.
3. Ignition off / radio on.
4. Factory USB inputs, another forum member has let me know how this can be retained and part is on order.

None of those things are a huge deal to me, but happy I will be able to keep the factory USB.

With the stock radio pushing the volume button turns the radio on with the ignition off, this doesn't happen with the aftermarket radio, have to have the ignition on, I questioned this on 12voltdata and they said it can't be coded into the maestro, again no big deal to me.
