Read more about the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Two Door Spotted for the First Time at AutoGuide.com.The all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler has been spied testing once again, this time with both two- and four-door models.
The prototypes in these shots are still heavily camouflaged, but a few small design details are visible. First of all, the round headlights and iconic seven-slot grille seem to still be in place, showing that the Jeep designers don’t want to stray far from the current look. Small LED light strips have been added to the front wheel arches and the exposed door hinges seen on the current model are still in place. Even the mirrors from the current Wrangler are still being used.
Inside of these prototypes, the dashboard setup is identical to the previous Wrangler, though this may a case of misdirection to keep the new interior design under wraps. It’s not clear if these model are showing production-intent design, or if FCA is simply still testing its powertrains and hasn’t put together a full prototype with a new interior yet.
When it arrives, the new Wrangler will offer diesel power, likely from the same 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbocharged unit found in the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ram 1500. That means that an eight-speed transmission is also a likely addition. A new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is rumored to be the base unit, while a hybrid version of the Wrangler will also be arriving in the future, around 2018.
Going lightweight is also a priority for the new Wrangler which will do so by adding plenty of aluminum.
