You're lucky that yours stays off. On the US models the start/stop defaults to ON every time you start your Jeep.
You're lucky that yours stays off. On the US models the start/stop defaults to ON every time you start your Jeep.My manual Renegade has auto start/stop but I keep it turned off. On occasion I must accidently hit the switch and sh1t myself as the car jumps into life at traffic lights.
Just in case you were wondering. According to the OBD my average is 26.7 MPG for the last 158 miles.Well, auto stop/start isn't turned off all the time -- it has to be turned off by pushing the button for each driving cycle.
With it turned off, there would be marginally-higher fuel consumption, and maybe marginally-faster acceleration from a stop.
Do current manual-transmission Renegades have this?
I don't use it but here goes from my recollection. So the UK (or Euro) models are different that way? You can disable the auto stop/start, and it stays off even for subsequent trips?
And how does it work on your UK manual? Does it start the engine when you lift off the brake pedal, or when you engage the clutch, or when you press on the accelerator?
So with your UK manual, you have to release both the clutch and the accelerator? Or just one or the other?Raise the clutch with the accelerator and the engine kicks into life
Mine requires 100% synthetic (2020)Yeah, they recommend this because they use cheap oil and more changes means more money. If you use good quality synthetic and a matching filter there is no reason you can't go 8 to 10k between changes.
I am sympathetic of the transmission problem. Keep in mind that any new vehicle has the potential for these challenges. Have heart and good luck working it out.
This is the way of the future like it or not...to save gas😉 In US it will only get stricter and stricter to comply with EPA and energy use guidelines.George since I first seen it's conception many years ago in an old VW Polo that my Bro In law was driving and it left me dismayed and bewildered. Having a car run as normal and then shutting down on me was an alien concept. It is still alien today, to me.
Why on earth does anyone want a vehicle that stops and starts? Stop, stop guys. I don't literally mean that.
I am old school in the way that cars were made. It starts, it runs until you turn it off.
On this occasion my Jeep is the firstcarvehicle I have had with this function. Some like it, I don't.
I feel your pain!![]()
Wait...what? We're slightly off-topic here, but I would certainly expect that a Jeep dealer would use the weight and specification of oil that Mopar recommends/requires; particularly since it could be a warranty issue. That would be MS-13340 for a 1.3L engine, and MS-6395 for a 2.4L.Yeah, they recommend this because they use cheap oil and more changes means more money.
Yup. And I would have expected the default (or even mandatory) auto-stop/start feature would have been introduced in Europe even earlier; because of their price of fuel and, um, higher eco-consciousness (just ask them...This is the way of the future like it or not...to save gas😉 In US it will only get stricter and stricter to comply with EPA and energy use guidelines.
Amazing if stricter and more Eco conscious than CA! 😮 Btw I am getting at least a couple more MPG overall than my 2016 Limited even with the added weight of TH packageYup. Of course, tests have shown that the fuel savings are very marginal...
Well, European prices for fuel are certainly astronomically higher...Amazing if stricter and more Eco conscious than CA! 😮
Check your battery, the auto start/stop usually stops working when that tiny battery fails. I had this happen on my old Chrysler Pacifica minivan and one day. after months of it not working, the van wouldn't start at all. that battery is how the vehicle always starts.I have to turn my stop-start off every time you get in the Jeep but thats not a problem because it aint worked in months.![]()
Which tiny battery, where?Check your battery, the auto start/stop usually stops working when that tiny battery fails.
I was trying to find it, but I do not see it's actual location. I can say for sure that it has it though.Which tiny battery, where?
Why in the world would the auto stop/start circuit need a small battery?I was trying to find it, but I do not see it's actual location. I can say for sure that it has it though.
