2020 Renegade Trailhawk Tire Rub w/ BFG 225 65/R17

I have a new 2020 Renegade Trailhawk and they made new changes inside the wheel well. On each side there are two metal plates and sound dampening fabric behind the back side fender liner. This pushes the fender liner out at least .5” or more. I have BFG 225 65/R17 tires with 1.25” Rugged Ridge spaces and have slight rubbing at full turn either direction. Nothing horrible but it rubs. Keep in mind I do not have a lift installed. Doesn’t seem to be many people with 2020 Renegades that have posted this. I’ve included a pic where the tires rub and a pic showing what’s behind the back part of the fender liner but from under the fender. I don’t think older model Renegades have this metal plate or fabric. Just FYI. 👍

You need to remove the pinch seam than put the liners back in like on the wright ups on the forum for it not to rub.
I have no lift and 30mm spacers with a LT 235 65 R17 with no rub!

Thanks! So if you do a pinch seam mod I assume you don’t put back on the metal plates covering that pinch seam? Because otherwise it’s pointless. Those metal plates are contoured and fit over the pinch seam so it wouldn’t matter if I cut the pinch seam If I put the plates back on. I wouldn’t have gained a thing. I don’t believe older models have these plates over the seam. Below is a pic of the plate. Not from my vehicle. Mine also has the fabric between the plate and the liner which also adds thickness. Ideas?

I would give it a try without the spacers. No spacers will reduce the steer arc.
I had a slight rub at 3/4 turn with 1.5 inch spacers that was corrected by a smaller 1 inch spacer in the front.
Did you ever resolve the rub or did you just take the spacers out? I went with 17mm (0.67 inches) and 225's on my 2021 TrailHawk and the extra length in the arc from the spacers started rubbing.

I'm not super keen on doing the pinch seam mod right now so I might take the spacers off, but I do plan on getting a 1-1.5" lift soon.
