Got an email today asking if I wanted to reserve one.

The off-road version is €40900.

To put that in context you could get a Disco Sport for €45000.

Hurt at $1.45 per gallon!!! Are you mad or something :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Please tell me you are joking as approx £6 a gallon ($7.51) is what I have been paying (and higher) for many years in Scotland and every Jeep owner over "The Pond" never complained when the Americans had extremely low fuel prices for many years.

Now the tables have turned slightly and you feel the need to whine about "adopting" a Renegade with more power because you have to pay for fuel :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I am sitting here shaking my head in total disbelief and bewilderment as to your thought process behind thinking that $1.45 a gallon is expensive.

Jessica I truly hope you misprinted your costs but even if it's true then I will still be driving my Renegade quite happily at 5 times the price you pay per gallon.

I sense an excuse coming up, wait for it!! "Oops I meant per litre" 😳😳😳.

Hey we all make mistakes and I am no different.

Kind of embarrassing yourself there by your lack of reading comprehension. I said a more powerful petrol engine would be cheaper but use more fuel than a hybrid, but incredibly cheap fuel in the US means that the economics favor the more powerful engine NOT the more expensive electrification that wouldn't pay for itself when petrol is so cheap.

So short version is there's little incentive to pay for expensive batteries and a plugin system for your garage to save on fuel if fuel is dirt cheap.

Shall we quote above exactly your words so there is no mistake? Kind of embarrassing yourself there by your lack of reading comprehension.

The above is different as you said this :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Old Chinese proverb says when the hole comes up to your neck then stop digging the hole :p:p:p

Jessica, we all make mistakes in the way that words are interpreted when we write them down for a variety of reasons. Do not be offended because someone questions what you are saying.

Once again had you quoted that the price of a gallon of fuel, "I tanked up the other day for $1.45 a gallon." was meant to read as per litre then this conversation may have had a different outcome.

I am asking you to read your post again and see that the USA according to many searches is a lot more than $1.45 per gallon as you quote.

puddlesplasher, YOU have the reading comprehension problem, here are the words you need to look at in Jessica's post:

Current fuel prices are going to hurt its adoption...
Pretty simple, the low price of gasoline will make it less likely that some one will buy the 4xe electrified Jeep, that's what "going to hurt it's adoption" means.

And yes there are places in the US where gas is that cheap, I'm paying $1.74 per gallon in my area.

Even cheaper today in Houston specifically. GasBuddy is showing several now at $1.25! Best Gas Prices & Local Gas Stations in Houston TX

Its also why we've had huge layoffs in OFS lately (SLB just terminated 30% of their staff nation wide), and the reason I mention that is that is the part of the oilfield industry that looks to future operations that are a few years down the road. If they are halting all projects that aren't already well underway, it means they expect that this drop in oil price isn't temporary but a long term trend and is so low that they can't even break even yet alone make a profit.

So expect gas prices to be low and stay low, but of course there is no way that FCA could have anticipated that we'd have a global economic downturn because of an epidemic while simultaneously experiencing an oil-war between the Russians and OPEC.

Good for the domestic industry in general though, as they focused on less fuel efficient but more practical SUVs and trucks, which are likely to become even more popular when gasoline starts to become cheaper than bottled water.
