So these are being produced in Italy right? Its pretty crazy that they have started production of the Fiat 500X already since they haven't revealed it to the public yet. It could make a very quick jump from being revealed to being on sale if they already are producing them.

well 500X is supposed to be on sale first so yea I would assume so :D

It could even be a case of you seeing it at an auto show and being able to order one right their and then or just be directed to a dealer.

hows the steel on the fiats? rust prone?
If they didn't get a bath treatment for corrosion inhibition, I'd be shocked. Given environmental requirements for auto paint these days, you do NOT count on it for corrosion protection.

Also given that they have repeatedly stated in public it can ford 19" of water, they better not be taking shortcuts with corrosion protection.

Also there's not a car in the us that I know of that doesn't ship with a corrosion warranty. Jeeps is 36 months for ANY sheet metal on the vehicle, and 5 years/100k miles for any external, painted sheet metal. There are limitations, but they are more or less the usual.

The bar is set pretty high on this one in the US market, they would be committing suicide if they sold a rust bucket.
