Whats the Plus?

And how does it detect in the dark or fog?

I beleive there is a visual spectrum sensor somewhere in front but am not sure what those cameras would be for.

Can anybody chime in?

FORWARD COLLISION WARNING PLUS SYSTEM comprises a radar located behind the front bumper and a camera located in the central part of the windscreen.

In the event of an imminent collision the system intervenes by automatically braking the vehicle to prevent the crash or reduce its effects.

The system may lightly brake to warn the driver if a possible frontal accident is detected. Signals and limited braking are intended to allow the driver to react promptly, in order to prevent or reduce the effects of a potential accident.

The system has been designed for road use only. If the vehicle is driven off-road, the system must be deactivated, to avoid unnecessary warnings. By selecting the 4WD LOW mode, the system is automatically deactivated.

does it do anything extra If I already know something bad is happening and slam the brakes? or does it depend on me not paying attention?
It primarily is for when you get monetarily distracted, cell phone rings, reading a text message, looking down at your GPS nav map, etc. I want it and will wait until the 2016 model to see if they offer it on the the Trailhawk.

Like airbags and anti-lock brakes... every vehicle will have this in about 10 years. It really seems like a good use of technology. Next I want them to make an automatic cyclist avoidance system, so the texting motorist doesn't run me over.

I have another question about this.
I test drove a Trailhawk yesterday that had the camera cover behind the interior rear view mirror. I had commented to the salesman how it kind of threw off my perception because it took away the space my eyes expected to see to the windshield. The windshield was blacked out over the space the camera box occupied.

Is this box now a standard installation item for the Renegade, whether the camera is there or not?

And if so, is there the wiring or harness for the camera also going to the cover regardless of it's installation?

TIA
