Aftermarket Auto Dimming Rearview Mirror?

7270 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  RSK
First off, my mechanical ability for working on cars consists of changing a flat tire, battery, and old wiper blades. That's about it.

The only thing my new Renegade Latitude is missing that I really wanted was an auto dimming mirror. I can't stand people driving behind me with high beams on!

Has anybody an aftermarket one into their car? Does the huge box behind the current mirror have any kind of power plug where you could connect it?

Was looking around on the Mopar site, but didn't see much...just the different pieces to the RVM cover.

I can't help with the auto-dimming mirror, but I will tell you I much prefer a manual mirror. I'm glad my Renegade came with a manual mirror. It only takes a second to flip the lever one way or the other.

My Dodge has the auto mirror and it just doesn't seem to work as well as a manual one. There are times around dusk/dawn that I want to dim the guy behind me with HID lights and the auto mirror won't cut the glare as well as the manual mirror.

If you have the manual mirror, make sure that you flip the mirror the correct way. For normal conditions, the lever should be toward the windshield when the mirror is adjusted for the best rear view. Flip the lever to the rear for the night time position.

Thanks man, I actually never used the feature before and now I know.

Wonder if a Fiat or universal auto dim mirror would work? I pulled the black plastic cover off behind the manual mirror and there are wires back there, but concerned they could be air bag sensors.
