How much did this cost you? I just called our dealership (the parts guy hadn't even heard of "My Sky") and his system says about $3900 before taxes and installation.
Well, initially, when they thought it was going to be the Grand Cherokee sunroof, I was quoted $2200 which included the install price. I asked if there was any wiggle room with the price, as I hadn't yet bought the Trailhawk and thought they might bring down the price to get me to buy the Reney. So he dropped it 10%. But a week later, I mentioned a competing dealership quoted me $1300. They replied it was a lesser unit, but that they would give the one THEY ordered for me for their cost of $1600. So, I said yes. They've actually been a real honest dealership to work with--even talking me OUT of installing their speakers and told me I would get a cheaper deal at other audio shops. They ALSO said not to bother paying for extras like VIN etching and such. So, I trusted their price for the sunroof. Oh, and they ALSO beat my Credit Union loan...60 months at 1.9%...which actually even beat the APR Chrysler was offering as a special on the Renegade.

So, I paid the $1600 in full, and let them put it down as part of my down payment. It wasn't until 2 weeks later, when the first sunroof came in that they decided they didn't feel comfortable with it. So they did some research and found the factory, Renegade specific, sunroof and ordered it for me. And, haven't upped the price.

If it DOES turn out to be panoramic, I'm going to be OVER...THE...MOON with excitement. After researching sunroofs last night, I was certainly hoping it would be Webasto. So, thanks for that info, MJAB. I know there's a lot of aftermarket skeptics out there. So, I've been really praying I made the right decision, being a REALLY was disappointed the US wasn't getting the glass sunroofs yet. But, finding out it's more than likely Webasto, AND the dealership did tell me that it DOES come with the Lifetime Warranty...feeling good about my decision.

And yes...most definitely will post pics.

Well gee there's only one Renegade specific glass sunroof and that would be the Command View panoramic sunroof. Sounds like great news for you. For your sake I would hope that it's an extremely qualified Webasto dealer/installer. That will be quite a challenge for any such installer to put in the factory sunroof after the fact, not on a production line. Don't forget to post before, during and after install pictures.

Aftermarket Sunroof?

Hi Guys,

I bought a Renegade Trailhawk a few weeks ago - love the car, but was gutted that they didn't stock the model I wanted with the My Sky sunroof. I'm now contemplating getting an aftermarket sunroof fitted and just wondered if anyone else has gone down this route? Ideally I'd love to get the My Sky retrofitted (does the dealer even offer this?) or at worst, get something panoramic that doesn't look out of place.

Any ideas/comments welcome!

Thanks

Pete

I had a regular one installed- it not panoramic but I love to have the extra light and air.
I'm glad I did it. I wanted my sky too but couldn't find one. This was good compromise. Plus my sky is not glass so it doesn't let light in.

Thanks for the reply. Did you get the sunroof fitted at the dealer or by a specialist? Any issues with leaking etc?

I think you're right, the glass option would actually be better (I live in Canada so we don't see too many baking hot days!), I heard that there is a Webasto sunroof made specifically for the Renegade, did you buy a jeep recommended model or just any sunroof?

The dealer used a place that specializes in sunroofs. The place is great and I had no issues. The dealer did wash and detail the car too soon so the sunroof place had to fix it. If you get it don't wait at least 48 hours before trying to open it.

Mind sharing what the cost was? The lack of a standard sunroof was the only negative for us on the Renegade; would love to know what kind of cost to look for, see some pics, and hear how you like it. Thanks in advance!

I'd love to see a retractable canvas roof offered on it. I know they have them on the Fiat 500 so FCA must have the knowledge and ability in house already.

The Renegade has a ribbed roof. Loves to see up close pictures from the top side showing how this sunroof worked with the roof ribs. And does the glass open into the car or topside, a top slider? Pictures please. And thanks.

It slides open- I'm not sure what you mean. You don't see the glass in the car or out when it's open

Thanks for all the info man. I think FCA really messed up when they decided to only offer the glass sunroof in europe. From your initial pics, it looks like you had fantastic work done. We get ours delivered in a couple of weeks and I'm going to start asking around to find an aftermarket installer in Houston. I'm assuming they also installed some sort of drainage line for when it's raining?

Oh and feel free to share as many photos as possible! No such thing as too many :p

I had one installed as part of the closing. Dealer included at no added charge to me and had it installed at a local company, including a pull out shade. The kicker is that they have to remove the factory headliner to install a "false roof" in order for the sunroof to slide into. The installer matched up the color of the headliner as close as possible. If you didn't know that it was aftermarket you couldn't tell.

Had it since June - works like a champ.
