Thanks for all the info man. I think FCA really messed up when they decided to only offer the glass sunroof in europe. From your initial pics, it looks like you had fantastic work done. We get ours delivered in a couple of weeks and I'm going to start asking around to find an aftermarket installer in Houston. I'm assuming they also installed some sort of drainage line for when it's raining?

Oh and feel free to share as many photos as possible! No such thing as too many :p

I'm honestly not sure about the drainage. I would assume so. We have had rain and no leaks. Maybe ask the dealer who they recommend for the install.

Where are those Pics?! :)

Well, initially, when they thought it was going to be the Grand Cherokee sunroof, I was quoted $2200 which included the install price. I asked if there was any wiggle room with the price, as I hadn't yet bought the Trailhawk and thought they might bring down the price to get me to buy the Reney. So he dropped it 10%. But a week later, I mentioned a competing dealership quoted me $1300. They replied it was a lesser unit, but that they would give the one THEY ordered for me for their cost of $1600. So, I said yes. They've actually been a real honest dealership to work with--even talking me OUT of installing their speakers and told me I would get a cheaper deal at other audio shops. They ALSO said not to bother paying for extras like VIN etching and such. So, I trusted their price for the sunroof. Oh, and they ALSO beat my Credit Union loan...60 months at 1.9%...which actually even beat the APR Chrysler was offering as a special on the Renegade.

So, I paid the $1600 in full, and let them put it down as part of my down payment. It wasn't until 2 weeks later, when the first sunroof came in that they decided they didn't feel comfortable with it. So they did some research and found the factory, Renegade specific, sunroof and ordered it for me. And, haven't upped the price.

If it DOES turn out to be panoramic, I'm going to be OVER...THE...MOON with excitement. After researching sunroofs last night, I was certainly hoping it would be Webasto. So, thanks for that info, MJAB. I know there's a lot of aftermarket skeptics out there. So, I've been really praying I made the right decision, being a REALLY was disappointed the US wasn't getting the glass sunroofs yet. But, finding out it's more than likely Webasto, AND the dealership did tell me that it DOES come with the Lifetime Warranty...feeling good about my decision.

And yes...most definitely will post pics.

As it turns out, after MONTHS of waiting....the dealership NEVER got the sunroof they claimed they ordered. Finally, I told them nevermind I want my money back. And, even with it being about 6 months later, they didn't argue and immediately wrote me a check in full. They seemed to be just as confused over it all as I was, and were quite apologetic.

I'll bump this thread as I'm thinking of adding a sunroof. The local dealer referred me to an installer who said it would be a Hollandia 740 unit. Cost looks to be about $1500.

For those who have had them installed, did you lose any head room?
What specific models did you have installed?
Any other issues in the months that have passed?
More pics would be great.

Thanks

Add MySky

Maybe I will sound insane, but is it possible to install a MySky or another sunroof?

I got my Latitude and got it without the MySky and immediately regret it and have been looking to see if there could be one added later. If not, I can live without.

Bringing back this thread because I have an update.

Had my Renegade Trailhawk in to get the sunroof installed at the dealership. However, right before install, they second guessed that there wouldn't be any leaks--due to the grooves in the Renegade roof. The one they were about to install is the one they install in the Grand Cherokee....same one another Dealership said they would install, as well. What they chose to do, instead, was...apparently, there is now a sunroof specifically made for the Renegade. And, the sunroof is now being shipped from Italy. Sounds like the same one installed at the factory. Only problem, it takes a month to receive. Thankfully, I was visiting family back in Florida when all of this went down, just got back, and only have about another week for its estimated arrival.

Anyone already have one installed aftermarket?
Is there a specific name for this? My dealership claims they do not install sunroofs and it comes from the factory like that and there is nothing you can do about it! hard to believe. So this sunroof is FOR the Renegade?

Any custom car shop. Typically if they have done another vehicle before, that more than likely have the means do do it. Or at least find more out than that dealer

Here is a link to the Webasto site where there is a plethora of options. Also, it may be worth even contacting Webasto directly and asking them what the model of the sunroof is that you are looking for -- its worth a shot:

What my dealership told me was, there's not one out there they know of that has been tested that DIDN'T leak. All current testing, as of two months ago, showed leaks. Thus, the dealership didn't feel comfortable installing one for me.

That's really a shame. You'd think that it wouldn't be such a huge issue to have a non-leaking sunroof installed.
