Turning air conditioner on in low, med low, med, med high it blows out fairly cool air. On high, the air temperature increases and isn't as cool. If it is cool outside it doesn't seem like it's an issue, but several days of outside temps reaching 95 plus degrees, the cabin never cooled off. I have a 40 minute commute back and forth to work and it doesn't cool. Obviously with the outside temps up that high the low-med high settings won't blow good enough to cool it off, but the high won't either. I took it to the dealership and they did the thermometer in the vent check, (while it was only 80 degrees outside), and they said nothing was wrong with it. I know better. Any suggestions?

The air con issue has been discussed at length on these boards but i cannot find a link, maybe someone may help.

It related to issues that you have raised such as the air con not cold enough and was only blowing air with hardly any cooling effect. The dealers apparently fob you off saying it is normal. I think that some have said a software update corrected the issue while someone mentioned that a compressor was replaced.

It finally got fixed. I had to go in there and aside a big stink with the service manager. They even tried the thermometer test again and I flew off the handle so to speak. Needless to say, I took them for a ride in it and even the thermometer temp started rising. It got up to 73.9 degrees and they agreed I had a problem. They got the "go ahead" from Chrysler to go ahead and replace the compressor and a couple other things. So it's apparently an issue that Chrysler is aware of. I got it fixed right before the fall season came in and I don't need it right now...but at least it will be there next summer when I need it.

Good to hear that you got it fixed. Air con is not just for summer. Should you get into your car and it has been raining, you are wet. What happens inside the car? Windows mist up. Best way to clear them is with the air con. You can have the cold/hot heat setting anywhere from cold to hot to use air con. This morning the temperature was a couple of degrees below freezing. Me and my daughter got in the Jeep and started the engine. Turned the heat setting to hot and with the air con on, bingo, no damp air in the Jeep and clear windows.

Wait there is other weather besides raining in the U.K.??? ;)

Yep. But you gotta be quick or you'll miss it :D

The wettest place I've seen or been is the lake district.

Had my Renegade in due to hissing sound from vents when AC was on. (4000 km on OD)
They did a pressure test and found next to no Freon. They did a vacuum test and past 100%.
They charge the system and everything works great even though it is winter here in Canada now so hard to fully test system.
The dealer thinks they never charge the AC from the factory. They were the same people who were suppose to install mounting bolts for the factory trailer hitch.

Was that hissing sound sort of a high pitched whine? I get a high pitched whine when I have it cranked to max air flow, and today I noticed my AC doesn't get very cold. Maybe I'll need to swing by the dealer this weekend.

For those of you who bought one of these beasts without A/C or yours' doesn't work, you might want to try one of those Swampy 12 V DC portable swamp cooler units. It's not nearly as cold as A/C but will give you relief from the heat. A/C messes up my sinuses plus I find it way too cold for comfort. Just an idea.

Dealer had to Fix

Hey everyone, I want to send everyone a quick message on the 2016 lat. My wife and I got ours back in Oct. 2016. We didn't need to run the AC all winter, the temp outside started to get warmer so we kicked on, same issue as everyone, cool at first but then get hotter the longer you drive. We took it to the dealer, Yes, after 3 weeks in the shop, had to fight the dealership for a loaner, and calling Chrysler, and reporting the dealership to them. they found that the high side line to the AC had a kink in it. The dealership told me that Chrysler changed the design on this. After the replacement of the part and a bunch.... ok alot, of tests being performed, we have our jeep back. BE CAREFUL THEY BROKE THE GLUED CLIPS INSIDE THE TOP PART OF THE DASH. We have to take it back to get a new dash installed.

The air con really should be run regularly every few days , even in the winter . The gas lubricates the pipes , it prevents them from drying out and cracking , thus losing the gas . Also it greatly speeds up the window demisting and can be run with the heater turned up at the same time when doing this .

have you tried consulting an specialist? as I was in your place aswell. When my temperature got really high in salon, I was trying to regulate it with aircond but it just couldn't go normal, I think there were some wires dissasembled. And nothing worked lol, considering how toasted I was getting in 35C weather on open-sun road. I couldn't call anyone nearby as everyone were closed due their own problems, and my mate suggested me seeking some advices from https://www.socool.sg . They didn't just give me some advices, but also came and helped me lol.
