It's the new world we live in. It's great but they will all have challenges.

There's a trend towards home automation. A fully automated home means your thermostat, door lock, lights, etc can be hacked. Someone can set your thermostat to 100, your door to unlock or turn on all your lights.

I read in a Cherokee forum last week that someone with far better hacking skills than I, discovered that their supposedly "non-active" UConnect system actually was sending data, even though the user-side of UConnect wasn't active/purchased by the owner.

That's just a bit spooky, for one because of lack of disclosure (if it's true) and for two, now we know the system could be hacked.

My Trailhawk does not need an update (5.0 screen). But my Dodge Challenger does. This will be the third time I have updated the UConnect system in the Challenger (it is an 8.4 screen).
