The only reviews I've seen have been at Jeep events, where they spoon feed the journalists. They've had a few of those, which generated dozens of reviews.

Has anyone found a review where the author had a Renegade for a day or more, and not one that was meticulously perfected before the gang of journalists showed up for the Jeep Junket?

Consumer Reports has one "in testing" right now. I'm interested because they buy one from a dealership and really wring it out.

I forgot to mention. Some of you folks might be interested. The Fast Lane (TFL Car) was at a Fiat event where they were comparing the 500X to some other cars. They drive the 500X with a manual transmission and the 1.4 at the end. They kind of liked it. Said it was "a happy car". I'm sure all the macho, chest-thumping, truck-nutz, hardcore Jeep types will just love that part.

I know, I know. Everybody is now going to dump on me because I said "Fiat". Relax, I just mention it because there are a lot of questions here about the 1.4 and manual - and that's what they were driving. Same engine, same transmission, different body. They liked it.

It would be nice to get an objective view from a normal, non "Jeep-fanboy" of how these are to own. That said, I am more interested in the 1.4T manual impressions. That is, if they ever arrive.

There is a nice review of the 1.4T/manual in the May issue of Car & Driver, but they haven't put the review online yet because the issue is still on the newsstand.

Thanks - I saw that LA Times review in another thread. It looks like the same semi-junket review that TFL.com did. I don't know this, but it looks like Jeep set some journalists loose in that area. But it looks like that had more of a chance to wring the thing out in the real world.

Yes, I think this might qualify as a more realistic review. At TFL.com, you can see Nathan zooming around in the 1.4 turbo with manual with a maniacal grin on his face. He was clearly in love with the thing.

I'm no professional car writer but I've had mine for about a month now, and my general opinion is that it's a solid vehicle. Clearly there are some flaws in all vehicles but these for me at least can be over looked.

I purchased the Limited Glacier White with Every available option sans sky view. What I really like is that contrary to how small it seems it actually it's extremely spacious. This past weekend I took my fiancé, my daughter and two friends on a mini road trip and they constantly expressed how much space they had, especially because the day before all they complained about was how small it looked. The leather interior feels good, not so cheaply made as in some cars/SUVs. The 2.4 engine is more than sufficient for basic travel and switching lanes etc is smooth. The engine noise at least on my particular one is almost non existent.

The 4X4 feature is nice. I like the auto setting as well as the manual options. As I've stated in my previous post I've been doing some extremely crazy things. I've driven in parking lots and driven all over dividers etc. it works well to say the least. Build quality overall seems to be done well. The Nav and entertainment system is good. Not great. The sound quality on music is good however drastic differences in Bluetooth connection sound and usb connection sounds. Again extreme differences. It's all manageable via device sound settings a car eq settings. For day to day use (use mine for work travel and personal) it's really a solid first try and with a generation or so this had the ability to be #1 CUV! Gas leaves a bit to be desired but again I'm in NY and traffic is a pain. However I've filled my tank twice with $30 give or take $2 and I've had it a month with moderate use.

Any other questions feel free to ask. I will get back as soon as I can.

What do you mean extreme? Does BT sound better than USB or vice versa?I stream through bluetooth a lot on my phone. Did you feel the 9 speaker upgrade to be worth it?

The BT sounds is much louder. Like I connect my iPhone 6+ to it via BT and I was modifying the car stereo sound because it was very high on treble to my ears. Than I go into setting to realize it's actually neutral so I had to modify the output on my phone. I tried connecting via iPod connection (usb) and the sound was balanced with good low high and mediums. So if your using a BT connection lower the device so it doesn't drown out sound once connected. Personally I do think the 9 speaker system is better but is the price for it justified I don't think so. I'm very into my music when I'm out so I sprung for it and I'm happy with it. Just these manufactures are getting away with high way robbery with their dollar amount.

GREAT questions. All of which I've longed to know the answer. Good to hear from SHEEDNYC17 that I might not totally be missing out on me not being able to get the 9 speaker upgrade with the color Trailhawk I wanted. Color came first on the wish list.

By the way, my Trailhawk sure has been sitting in the Port of San Diego for a long time. Or, a long time it SEEMS. I put down a $1000 deposit to make sure it was mine. I did that over a week and a half ago, and the dealer has had no update on whether it's still sitting there or has been shipped up to Utah yet. MY salesman has been great to check in with me at the end of everyday to let me know if they've received word.

You're SLC right? Which dealer? I'm Kanab, but we bought my girl's Grand Cherokee from Ken Garrff CJD in West Valley.

Ha!! Same...Ken Garff CJD West Valley. My sales guy, Dan Conely has been terrific. Ken Garff does a program in all the Utah high schools called Keys To Success with the students, and also offers for one of them to win a new car. But they also offer us teachers $500 off a car. They actually tell us in faculty meeting to not show them your coupon till they settle a price with you, THEN give them the coupon so they don't try to work that into the price.

That's way too long.
Ask your dealer for the VIN and an update on FCA's shipping VON code status.
He should be able to get them instantly if the TH exists.

That's what I thought. Started sounding a bit fishy. However, I HAVE seen their purchase sheet for the Trailhawk, and we've event settled on a price. I'll email my salesman. Perhaps it's the purchasing manager giving my salesman the runaround?

UPDATE: I just emailed my salesman with your suggestions. Thanks, Incognito!

If he gets you the VIN, you can also use that with a Jeep Care specialist on their website's online chat to have them track it for you. They should be able to tell you where it's at and when it should hit the dealership.

There aren't any west coast port delays going on currently are there? I remember there were some labor disputes with the dock workers earlier in the year, but that's all settled and everything's back to normal, right?

Thanks, guys, for your help. I thought it odd that they couldn't just tell me where it was. Last they heard, it was at the port. Keep in mind, this isn't one I special ordered. It just happened that the dealer had just purchased it to be shipped to the dealership. My salesman has been on top of looking for what I want, so he snagged it for me the second he saw the dealership order. He's just as frustrated in not having any updates for me. He's even said, for all he knows, it could just pop up at the dealership without a heads up.

That happened to me while I was trying to find my Anvil one. The dealership I intended to use had one incoming and it was also listed on their site as "in transit". But it was taking forever. Calling the sales guy would just tell us "in a week". Then that week would go by. I didn't put any money down on it but they knew how interested I was.
But at that point, after a few weeks of this, I was losing faith in them. I ended up going somewhere else last week and they eventually found one for me from another dealership.

And guess what? The original dealership called yesterday that the Anvil one is finally in.
If only they could have given me an exact date I would have waited. But maybe they really don't know.
