I've been changing my own oil for > 30 years but have had two leaks around the oil filter when I use the 113A Mobil 1 oil filter. Ended up replacing with Fram filter (not my favorite). It almost looks like the seal doesn't quite cover up the opening.

Guess I should start using the OEM filters moving forward.

I usually use K&N oil filters because I can get them in a bundle deal with Mobil1 Full Synthetic most of the time. Last weekend was in a hurry and didn't see my K&N filter so grabbed a Mobil1 filter instead. I couldn't even get far enough with it to tell you if there was any oil leak issue because it wouldn't thread on and when I took a good look at the filter the threads were stripped out of the box. Went to another store and got my K&N filter and all is good.

I think there is something wrong with the adapter that it sits in. Put a OEM filter on it and it leaks all the way around. One of the holes actually comes out to halfway under the rubber gasket - almost like it's bent.

Looked up the oil filter adapter and it doesn't look like this part number that pops up. 5048039AA

Does your Renegade have an oil cooler? If it does the oil filter connects directly to the cooler, and the cooler connects to the adapter.

The cooler part number is 05048119AD.

Great. I was wondering how the central shaft was secured/tightened. Nothing like a YT video to help the do-it-yourselfer.
