Hello,
I really wanted to love this Jeep, but I've had it for 28 days, and a third of it has already been spent in the shop with transmission issues. Just to know what my options are. I'm wondering if anyone know if Jeep has a 30 day return or buy-back program or anything like that. They made a mistake by giving me a new Fiat for a loaner and now I'm thinking of going back to my original plan of getting a Mini Countryman or something like that instead :(

I wanted the Jeep for the bigger size of it, and I love Jeeps, but after driving the Fiat, I think a smaller car wouldn't be that bad, and for the same money I spent on a new, bare-bones Renegade Sport already with transmission issues, I could get a slightly used, loaded Countryman. Help me decide what to do!!!

Check your state's Lemon Laws. That's really the only legal avenue you have. No car manufacturer has an official buy-back or money back guarantee program, but it is usually handled on a case-by-case basis and dictated by the local laws.

I am interested in hearing about this from those who know more about it, but my understanding is that you take the hit of depreciation no matter what, so you wouldn't be looking at the cost difference between the Countryman and brand new Renegade but between the Countryman and whatever you can get for the previously owned Renegade, either by selling it or by getting a settlement under your Lemon Laws.

If you really think you might have a lemon, it would be a good idea to read up on what others have done, e.g. http://jeepcherokeeclub.com/4-2014-...how-my-lemon-law-buy-back-process-worked.html

The dealer is opening a Star Case on my vehicle to decide what to do with it because they can't seem to resolve the tranny issues. I'm kind of hoping it results in a buy-back or something because if it means a new transmission, I've heard that can take a while. This is my first brand new car in years and the last one (1997 Chevy ZR2 Pick-up) was a lemon and the whole process was a pain! Geez! This really sucks!

You seem to have bad luck with picking cars. Maybe you should stalk your friends who take care of their vehicles and lease. Buy it out form them at the end.

Lemon laws very by state, here is a link to the Wisconsin Lemon Law:

Contact Jeep Customer Care & have them open a case. I am dealing with my floorboards getting wet and it's now in the shop for the 2nd time with this issue. My Jeep Case Manager sent in a request for a buyback on Friday. Of course there is no guarantee it will be approved, but it appears this is the department that handles it. My car is having software issues. Out of the 4 weeks that I've "owned" it, I only got to drive it the first week. I'm at the 3rd time taking it in and 19 days in the shop (counting Saturdays since the shop is open then... But I'm not sure if that legally counts). Chrysler was saying they wouldn't have a fix for the software until sometime next month. I freaked and went in to talk to the dealership who in turn asked Chrysler to buy the vehicle back. Chrysler made it clear that not enough time had elapsed for them to be interested in getting involved.

They have now updated the ETA of the software fix to the end of this month. The dealership offered to help me get a different jeep which I didn't do. I was worried about having the same issues with a another renegade and I'm not excited by the other jeeps in my price range. In the meantime they are making my car payments while it is in the shop and gave me a loaner. I have made it clear to them that if it starts having issues again after this gets fixed or the time gets elongated we will be talking again. They said I should have a much better leg to stand on with Chrysler if it does have more issues.
