My Challenger has backup alert. It goes off every time I back out of the garage. It likely detects the edges of the doorway. I find it annoying.
Nothing is better than actually looking where you're going using both mirrors and glances out of the windows in addition to the backup camera.
Tell the young ones to back up slowly and be sure of all the surroundings before proceeding.
