Hi there all

I know there's a similar thread in the general forum but wanted UK comment and information.

Roof bars - Which one? Thule, Whispbar or those rather expensive ones from Mopar jeep accessories??

Side Steps - Same again...........................

Cheers

Not UK, but I got the Wispbar and like the flush look. I didn't notice any additional wind noise once installed. And it uses a clever attachment system for accessories that takes mere seconds without tools (need the key). It might be a little pricey, but I feel that the quality and the robust bars are worth it.

+1 on the Whispbars - S46 to be exact.

There are considerations to be thought of when going with these although:

They are practically flush with the factory rails, this may or may not be an issue.

Depending on where you lock them down, they may interfere with mysky, again may not be an issue.

Depending on what you plan on attaching to the bars, it may be difficult to get the attachment portion affixed to the rail due to the limited space between the roof and the bars.

Since these go "inside" the factory rail (versus "on top"), you actually lose a little bit of real estate on the bars. This my be of concern for people that run baskets and bike racks/recovery gear/etc on either side of the basket.

I love mine, but they are pricey.:)

Here's a couple of Pics showing the 'Whispbar' PRS46 roofbars. They're easy to fit & add little extra noise.
At the moment though I've taken mine off pending a conversation with the supplier as both right hand covers refuse to lock into position when on the car, they're fine off of the car though :(

We (me and my Bro) refitted the bars today. Now locking ok :)
Looks like I over tightened them first time round which slightly distorted the cover cap mounting causing the none licking issue.

I had Mopar (Sportrack) bars on a Cherokee I had a few years back but eventually changed to Thule simply because it was easier to add or change bike and water sports carriers. At that time the Thule range did not fit into the Mopar bar slots without making some DIY adjustments with a grinder and file. Now I believe the Mopar range is made by Thule and the Thule range is pretty extensive and quite easy to come by (Halfords even have good deals now and again). I've since changed again to the latest Thule range and the only slight niggle I have is that the wingbar shape they now use doesn't seem as strong as the old aerobars that they used to make. I put four bikes on their wingbars, still staying within the weight limit, and there is a slight sag/bounce to the bars. The bars i use are admittedly wider bars to go across a Ford Ranger and I have been the length and width of the country without incident but the aerobars I had on my cherokee were deliberately bought too wide for that car and adapted by myself (elongated the slots with a router) so that I could carry two bikes and a 38kg canoe and they never seemed to sag at all. I'm not sure what width of bars are supposed to be required for the Renegade but on a whole I've been quite impressed with Thule.
