Thanks beerbill. I will get onto them straight away. Sadly, none of my Jeep errors originate with the vehicle itself - all seems to be human error!

We had the blinky odometer in the Fiat shortly after getting it. I repaired my wifes phone and hasn't done it since 2012. Not saying a typical Renegade problem, was an issue with the Fiat.

I replaced an alternator in a 16 Renegade because of bearing noise, after done, odometer light flashed and HVAC module lost communication with my snap-on scan tool. After reading all of this, makes sense that the flashing is comm/buss failure. My scan tool did have the capability to reset the proxy settings, but could not communicate with the HVAC module. To fix, I did disconnect battery for 15 minutes, reconnected, all ok now.

Hello. Anyone experienced a blinking odometer? It's been blinking since day 1. Still registers the mileage, but blinks nonstop. I asked the service dept at the dealership, they had no clue. Said to disconnect the battery over night this didn't work. They also said more than 2 weeks for an appointment to have the tech look at it. Very disappointed with the service dept. happy with the glacier metallic limited 4x4, unhappy with the service dept. searched the fiat forums and only a couple posts about a blinking odometer with no real conclusion. I'd like to know up front what it is causing it so when my appointment is here I can be informed prior to them telling me something crazy.

Thanks in advance.
Did you happen to notice an electrical burning smell before it started flashing?

Blinking mileage is due to a module not configured to the vehicle. I had this problem when I upgrade my radio to the u connect with navigation radio. They have to check to see if all the modules are aligned with the vehicle. They have to run a proxy configuration on it. I know this cause I've had the problem and I work for Chrysler. Hope this helps

I have a 2019 Trailhawk with 7000 miles. Working fine until today turned off motor. When I stated back up, the odometer flashes,AC controls inoperable, radio controls inoperable, start-stop function inoperable. Nothing mentioned in manual about this condition. I have to drive home 730 miles hopefully it doesn’t cause the vehicle to completely shut down. Will be interesting to see what service tells me. Seems to cause erratic failures from reading other folks reply’s with same condition.

I'll sove your problem quickly and also like to add if your dealer said they have no clue, please by heaven and earth.... Find a better dealership with real techs. Short answer, your vehicle proxi configuration is not set. This will cause the ODO to flash but operate normally. The dealer should be able to enter "guided diagnostics tab via witech and perform a VIN verification and proxi alignment/ configuration, blinky ODO... Gone. Sometimes factory software is messed up. Or maybe even a PCM or BCM was replaced before shipping. Hope this helps.

Eldiablo,

Please tell us more about this Witech. What is it and where can we get one?
99.9% of the time. WiTech2 is exclusively used by dealer techs for dealer techs/ advisors. You need to register with FCA, have a tech SID number assigned and be verified in order to log in with credentials. And have a dealer number to enter. Not sure how others can achieve all these things unless theyre a tech currently, are within range of a dealers Wi-Fi network and have all the aforementioned credentials. But it is 2021. Anyrhings possible

Ok. So, 5 hours at the dealership. They updated the computer, said that, that is a log process which I'm sure it is. But they tried several methods to reset it and stop the blinking odometer. I mentioned to the service writer the info from this thread from eldiablo and he kinda looked at me like I had just said ice cream cures cancer. Like the same kinda situation as when you tell a doctor what is wrong, and they give you the "I'm the authority so I'm gonna tell you what you have and not listen to you no matter what you say" kinda attitude. They weren't rude or anything, just not receptive to suggestion.
Anyway, they are gonna contact Chrysler and we are gonna set another appointment to fix it once they've heard from Chrysler.
Tell em they are horrible techs. Find a new dealer my guy. For real. Every MOPAR tech knows PROXI configuration.

I’m sure by now you’ve got it handled, but mine blinks when I go over the 5000 mile counter between oil changes. I change oil, blinking stops. Not at all a mechanic. Just an observer

But how does the Jeep know you changed your oil? It's not that intelligent a computer and there is no sensor to tell it that the oil was changed.

I had to get my mate to plug the scanner/reader into my Jeep and reset it manually. That was only recently on my 2015 model.
