Hi All,

this uConnect system is new to me and i've mostly been enjoying it so far, but i noticed something that is completely crazy today and i'm hoping im just doing something wrong.

I have the iPhone 6 plus and i noticed that when i plug it in and switch the from sirus to "media" it defaults to my phone over bluetooth. i leave my bluetooth on because of COURSE i want to be able to use the phone calls over the radio option that requires bluetooth.

now i'm a bit of an audiophile - i had about 4 grand into a sound system in my previous car, and i realize that this is a stock system - but i wanted to switch to the USB connection because the sound quality is a bit better on that.

the distrubing thing is that i realized while my bluetooth is on, i can't select the USB as a source. is this normal? please tell me there is a way to fix that...

in order to be able to select my iphone as a usb source i had to turn off by bluetooth altogether. :ReneBlueWave:

Interesting. I haven't tried that configuration yet. The other day i put a bunch of music on a small USB drive and plugged it into the media port. The Renegade did default to that over the BT connection. Which was nice. I have an Android device and have not yet tried a USB cable from phone to media port. I'll try that and see if i get the same "default to BT" issue you have.

5.0 or 6.5 system? I have the 5.0. No issues having the phone on Bluetooth and media as an iPod connection.

Apple also just pushed an update for iOS today to fix all sorts of stupid with the music app. Might want to check the list of fixes.

I had just responded to another thread, having somehow missed this one, that seems to be exactly what I keep experiencing. Here is what I said there:

I have the same issue. USB is recognized about 1/3 of the time. I am using the USB jack that sits under the climate controls. I have tried turning the system off, plugging/unplugging, having it connected when starting the vehicle, and other things. iPhone 6, iOS 8.4.1

The only thing that seems to work most of the time (Without having to stop/restart the engine completely) is going to the Phone\Bluetooth settings, hitting Paired Audio Devices, and Disconnect. Then, with the USB cable already plugged in, about 2/3 of the times I try this, it finally detects USB as a valid source. I have managed to see both USB and Bluetooth both available as a Source about once, ever. The connection seems to be charging at all times, despite what the Audio Source is doing, so I know part of the cable is working. I will be trying another cable, just in case, as USB cables can certainly be very funky too.

Yesterday, the music I was playing from the iPhone, USB Source, kept pausing when Google Maps would attempt to voice navigation direction, but no sound would play. The music would then remain paused. That same trip, after being stopped at the dealership for a while, everything worked fine after restarting the Renegade. Nav directions were spoken with the music merely lowering in volume for the direction, then returning to the correct volume. No pause or any other odd behavior.

Needless to say, the intermittent nature of the connection is making me nuts. Granted, the only thing that seems any different is not being able to see the Album Artwork in the display when the Audio Source is Bluetooth, but it still makes me nuts.

no issue here. My bluetooth is always connected to my phone, and I use audio from a usb stick.

if you go into your settings, and then phone/bluetooth, select your phone, theres a option in there (on uconnect 5 its middle left side) to choose between "pair audio" or "pair phone"

maybe that might help.

I use an android phone, maybe its just a crappy iphone thing though...
