No clunking noises. Park isn't all the time, I just sometimes notice the car kind of jump into park, but it takes the trans about 1.5 seconds to shift into drive when I go from park or reverse into drive. No issue from neutral. I have a similar thread but hardly got any responses. Just looking for advice, and to relieve some anxiety because of the horror story. Thanks to those who replied on the last one, and thanks in advance for your help here!

I had the same sort of issue. Started up the engine, went to back out and it jumped into gear. Also a rough idle while waiting for a light or stop sign. I took it back and had the software updated. The surge from park to reverse has gone away. The idle is still a little rough. I'm at 4100 miles. No other issues. I had a service engine waring show up and disappear after one day last week. If it returns I'll speak to the dealer. No other sign of problems so far.

What's your build date?

Mine takes what I would consider a "normal" amount of time to shift between park/reverse/neutral, and I'm not really sure what you guys mean by surging, but it has a definite "Hey I'm in Drive now, lets go forward" feeling, like it's trying to move forward, but my Nissan used to do the same thing.

Like it was always chomping at the bit even with the brakes fully applied.

If you put the TH in Low / Rock and let off the gas, it has quite a bit of forward roll sans any throttle input.

But there is no "surge" in mine. 525 miles so far.

Have you had your vehicle into an FCA dealership for a formal diagnosis of this yet, Rauen?
I have not. I've been letting it go because of the "learning" transmission. It has leaned my driving style and no longer jerks into gear and I was waiting to see if it would catch on to me hitting the gas pretty much instantaneously when I put it in gear

And by jerk into gear I mean from 3 to 4 etcetera
That's good that it is no longer jerking into gear. So are your concerns all taken care of?

I'm not sure about the build date. Why is that relevant? I had the transmission software updated a few weeks ago, and the rough idle is still there at a stop sign or light. I bought the TH about two months ago.

It seems to only do it when I go from park or drive, not neutral. So I'd say no. Thinking about taking it in

Maybe you just need to give the engine a few more seconds to settle back from fast idle before you put it into drive. I always wait until the fast idle subsides.

I used to experience that..but I got my software updated while my renegade was in the shop, and that stopped. Now, a few week later i feel really jerky shiftying from 3-4 ish gear. Its strange. I need an oil change so I'll ask the dealership when its there. My idle is also verrrry noisy and shakey. I figured it was ...a jeep thing?? Guess not

I have noticed that if you put your car into park before any residual rolling is complete (due to pavement low spots, hills etc.) the electric e-brake activates and that can result in jerking. Shifting into drive results into the same situation as shifting into drive on any vehicle not parked on a flat surface.

Mine does this in 2nd and 4th - took it to the dealer this morning and there was an update on the transmission. Have not got it back yet to see if its fixed as they forgot to check the "steering veering" issue that happens (saw another thread for this topic). The vehicle only has 80 miles on it and the car was bought for the kids to learn to drive so I am less than happy. Bought the SRT GC for myself two months ago and expected similar customer satisfaction but not the case yet.

Mine jerks going into drive and surges when creeping in driveways, drive throughs and traffic. The tranny was fine when new, then at about 800 miles I noticed something all over the back. Turned out to be tranny fluid. They put a gasket in and gave it back to me I was 80 miles from home. Driving it home it was really strange hard to control steering and the tranny was pulling all kinds of stunts, compare it to riding a bucking bronco, and made noise similar to landing gear coming up in a jet. I nearly just parked it on the freeway and called them to come and get it. Dealer I took it to in my home town put 6 quarts of tranny fluid, yes 6 quarts. Connected the ground strap for the power steering motor and applied a bunch of updates. It has been acting as you all describe every since, has seemed to settle down after about 2,000 more miles, but it vibrated like crazy when in gear stopped. Just now I noticed they also didn't put the screws back in the chin skirt, tightened those up, vibration gone (for now anyway). At least they covered my first month payment for me. What bothers me the most is the get used to it, they are like this attitude, telling me I need to learn to like it basically. If it was like this when I test drove it I would not have bought it. Hope this thing works out, it's a great idea for a Mini SUV, I got rid of my Civic Si for this, would like to be happy about that.

Hello all, I purchased my renegade back in April and it has been in the dealer every month since. The driver inside pillar fell off while driving, radio had to be replaced, transmission update and everytime i put the car in park the vehicle does this nudge/surge. After being the in the dealer for 6 months straight in and out, they said it was the motor mounts that need to be replaced, mind you the vehicle only has 6,000 mile. After replacing the motor mounts the vehicle still does the nudge/ surge, which i think they replaced for now reason to charge jeep in order for the service department to make money. The vehicle has been in the dealer for over 40 days since the purchase of my vehicle in April and now i started the lemon law process with Jeep. Any advice with the lemon law process?

Mine was jerking really bad between 1 and 2nd, after I stopped at a red light or a full stop sign, when moved forward jerking horribly, took in a few weeks back update software, did not work. Called dealer they took it for test drive with me, and sure enough the car jerked and made this horrible noise, they kept the car for 3 days, said that the did a hard reset and re-educate the transmission on how to behave, got the car back on Wednesday and so far so good. Is behaving as it should. Hopefully for good, my car has about 10,000 miles now and started behaving like that after 7,000.

Do you drive an automatic?
If so does the idle improve when you move it into neutral?
