I have had my jeep trailhawk renegade for two weeks, and tomorrow I will be going back to the dealership for the third time

because the check engine light keeps coming on. It started the day after I got it
Getting so frustrated. They can't seem to be able to figure it out. Anyone have any suggestions I can mention to the dealership. Maybe something to look at.

Sorry, nursebetty323, I haven't had that problem. There are lots of folks on this forum, though, so hopefully someone will have some advice for you. Good luck!

What code is it throwing? Once you know the code, it should point you in the right direction.
It's probably a bad sensor or connection. Knowing the code will aim you at the right sensor.

Get in touch with @JeepCares (Jack), he is a Jeep customer care rep who frequents these forums. You may also want to consider going to another dealer who is more competent at scanning and understanding error codes.

Discussed several times already in past threads, whenever a warning light is turned on, an error code is stored into the on-board computer's datalog. Even if the light has somehow turned of, a code would still have been stored. Technicians diagnosing the problem need to hook the computer up to a factory approved system to retrieve the code, which helps them in reach a diagnosis. A generic code scanner will only be able to read general universal codes, it will not read manufacturer specific codes. Furthermore, if the dealer does not have the latest scanning hardware/software from Chrysler, they may have difficulty retrieving the code.

Bottomline, without a fault code, it's anyone's guess.

I too am having this issue, I was at km 263 when my service engine light came on... And my 4x4 is not working...

My Trailhawk is currently at the dealership, should know more by the end of day today, if I have any useful info I'll send it your way...

Good luck NurseBetty!

Any OBD2 scanner will show you the code it's throwing. The trick is many codes are generic and work for all vehicles, while some are brand specific. With the Reney being mfg in Italy, this could get even more complicated.
Most car parts store will read the code for free for you. Once you get the code, determining what it is, and then what would be causing it is up to the mechanic. Some codes are caused by bad sensors, while some will aim you at the real problem. Never ignore a code, at least until you know what it is and the ramification.
