I was curious if any one else has this problem.if I turn the radio off the whole LCD screen goes black.most vehicles when you turn the radio off they will at least display a clock. So I end up having to leave the radio on but muting it just so I can see the time.

I'm pretty sure you can set the display in your instrument cluster to show the time. I have the color 7" screen on mine and I can change the indicators to show different things.

Yep you can add it over there. While idling hit the up arrow button on the left side on the steering wheel a few times until you see something for display options. Hit ok and then it will let you choose what to display and where on the instrument cluster.
(If you have push button start you won't be able to change the top right section though).

Ok so here is a question- how does one change the bottom to read just trip A or B instead of odometer reader. Is it possible?

I have my top left to show temp top center is how many miles till empty center is speedometer (I like the digital ) and bottom right now is odometer. I want it to be like trip A

I don't see anything in the "display" category other than "phone repetition"...have no clue what that means. I have the 5" display with 6 speaker radio. Maybe displaying time when the radio off is not an option on that level radio?

Most of the above is about displaying the time (and some other stuff) on the instrument cluster; between the speedo and tachometer. That can be set using the buttons on the steering wheel, but there are two versions of that display (5" & 7" I think), so you'll need to say which you have to get accurate help.
It appears that for the radio unit off = off.

It's probably a function of the display between the speedo & tacho.

There are two versions: a base one with vertical fuel & temp gauges (non-configurable?)
and a configurable one that has fuel & temp horizontally at the bottom of the display.
