Loved my 2000 Jeep Cherokee, grieving after collision last week (rear-ended, Jeep totalled — solid frame saved my life). Wasn’t ready to shop for a new vehicle, but now I have no choice. Main concern is being able to fit three dog crates for my canine family. Is the Renegade a good choice, friends?

They'd have to be small dogs to get 3 in the back crated.

Renegade is almost small enough to be a B-SUV segment sized car.

Ford bronco has issues so does the Renegade. Hell search any make and model of vehicle car - suv - pickup from let's say 2015 to 2021 you will find issues and a forum where people talk about them.

Not a bad thing but I will assume more people come to forums to vent issues. Also manufacturers are building more complicated vehicles with more creature comforts that fail. But this is what people.

Next week I am having my 2018 renegade uconnect screen replaced under extended warranty. My 2002 TJ never had an issue with it's rear view mirror still works after 20 years🙂 PS this forum is the best Renegade out there👍

I would go with a TrailHawk 1.3L Turbo! If you get the turbo make sure you use premium fuel the little engine does wonders with it

Welcome!

being able to fit three dog crates for my canine family.
Yeah, as Nev wrote, they'd have to be really small dogs. At least with the rear seat backs upright.

The cargo area itself is 37" wide by only 29" front-to-back. And the rear seat backs tilt back at the top, which eats into the volume a bit.

With one or both of the rear seats folded, you can get up to about 5' front-to-back, depending how far back the driver's seat is. But the rear seat backs won't fold quite flat.

Here's what it looks like with the seats folded forward -- that rear area looks a lot larger here than it really is:

The advantage is the wheel base is really short, which means better offroad maneuverability. Fine for us; there's only the two of us now, and we can (barely) get all our camping gear in with the rear seats folded.

I can fit my ice fishing sled with the "60" seat down. I really like the size of the Renegade and the fuel economy is great too.

Off roading is a breeze through old logging trails and some areas without trails. I do not rock climb or anything like that but, backwoods driving to fishing spots is how I get to untapped rivers and such.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I really like the size too -- like I said, a lot of that is for offroad maneuverability.

Fuel economy, since you mentioned that? Maybe not so much. Or maybe it's just the tiny fuel tank...

I'm just saying that if mctallerico has three dog crates, she really should do some careful measuring -- particularly if she wants to keep the rear seat backs upright...

Do not consider a renegade, computer issues that dealer currently has no remedy for have kept outs in the shop for 6 months and counting.

Exactly. She should start her new car search with the brand she wants and then the model that will fit her measurements. Good pic Marek.

I purchased 2018 (used)Renegade latitude with the 2.5. Put about 500 miles on it and the oil level has not moved. Service records showed oil change every 3,000 to 3,500 miles. I will follow that. It did have a software update around 15,000 miles. I believe service is everything on any engine.
