W H Y ? does Europe get the 2.0L turbo diesel engine as standard in the Renegade? The Compass comes with this engine as standard!

The 2.4L Tigershark has its power & torque at high revs. The ZF 9 speed transaxle coupled to this Tigershark wants to change gear at low revs to save fuel. So software flashing will only make this combination more fuel hungry but better to drive.

In contrast the 2.0L turbo diesel has its power & torque at half the revs. A much better match to the ZF transaxle.

So come on FCA make the Europe standard a Special Edition in Australia, South Africa, Canada & USA.

FCA Australia say there is no demand for this.

What do you say?

Sorry Nev, FILTHY?
In a DIESEL FUEL TAX or PARTICULATE EMISSIONS sort of way?

We in Australia just re-elected the Government.
The would be Prime Minister wanted electric vehicles & to scrap DIESELS - he lost.

Does the OIL BURNING 2.4L petrol TigerShark engine SUCK less?

I'm sorry to here that Nev,
So that's the old DIESELS?

In France nearly 100% AS 24 Service Stations have AdBlue® at the pump.

I had an employee who came from a farm in the UK (he lived next to the poet Pam Ayres).
He always asked to fill up the truck. It reminded him of home.

As for the STINK, that's why the French invented PERFUME, non! (tongue in check)

Ad-Blue. AKA: PeePee.

:p

The 2.0l MJet thankfully doesn't have a urine tank.

Aside: Speed restrictions of -20kph here yesterday due to pollution. :(

Thanks Nev,

so no PeePee in the URINE TANK = DIESEL PARTICULATE POLLUTION

PETROL + DIESEL + TAR = CRUSE OIL (roughly)
NO PROFIT from DIESEL = even more expensive PETROL

BUT your 9 speed ZF TransAxle is not in a constant battle with the OIL BURNING 2.4L TigerShark. No sluggish PuttPutt requiring Pedal to the Metal? Followed by ZF thinking about changing to a lower gear? Then a hopefully a CLUNK (gear change) & acceleration resulting in WHIPLASH? I say hopefully because sometimes ZF & TigerShark can not agree, then you STALL!

Your 9 speed ZF TransAxle is MATCHED with your FILTHY 2.0L MultiJet allowing you to drive with no problems (apart from the EXISTING pollution)?

At least you got a manual.
Australia get no choice for the Trailhawk Renegade!
Must have the ZF 9 Speeed Transaxle!

Who at FCA makes the decision which Country gets what?

The Renegade in Australia is being killed off!

The Compass has the 2.0L TURBO DIESEL to MATCH the ZF!

Australians PLEASE let FCA what you want. (even if it's not what I want.)

Come September the new Renegade just might be more popular!

I have had the diesel for nearly two years, and had diesels before that, and I don't recall ever pouring it on my hands or the body rather than in the tank.
Rather than being dirty, it is better for the environment than petrol which produces far more CO2.

Fuel oil penetrates everywhere. Why do they give you those daft plastic film gloves if not?
Just look at the state of any station forecourt.
And after an accident the local fire brigade has to spend extra time spreading and clearing up sand.

It's been widely reported that FCA by 2022 will replace DIESEL with ELECTRIC.

In mid-2015 FCA introduced a 2.2 Multijet DIESEL engine.
This engine meets emission standards without use of Diesel exhaust fluid.

In the USA FCA lost a lot a money cheating DIESEL emissions testing.
So to recover development costs, probably not USA, but other markets should expect this engine?

I believe the Renegade DesertHawk would be a perfect fit!
Other Jeeps could also benefit from this offering.
