W H Y ? does Europe get the 2.0L turbo diesel engine as standard in the Renegade? The Compass comes with this engine as standard!
The 2.4L Tigershark has its power & torque at high revs. The ZF 9 speed transaxle coupled to this Tigershark wants to change gear at low revs to save fuel. So software flashing will only make this combination more fuel hungry but better to drive.
In contrast the 2.0L turbo diesel has its power & torque at half the revs. A much better match to the ZF transaxle.
So come on FCA make the Europe standard a Special Edition in Australia, South Africa, Canada & USA.
so no PeePee in the URINE TANK = DIESEL PARTICULATE POLLUTION
PETROL + DIESEL + TAR = CRUSE OIL (roughly)
NO PROFIT from DIESEL = even more expensive PETROL
BUT your 9 speed ZF TransAxle is not in a constant battle with the OIL BURNING 2.4L TigerShark. No sluggish PuttPutt requiring Pedal to the Metal? Followed by ZF thinking about changing to a lower gear? Then a hopefully a CLUNK (gear change) & acceleration resulting in WHIPLASH? I say hopefully because sometimes ZF & TigerShark can not agree, then you STALL!
Your 9 speed ZF TransAxle is MATCHED with your FILTHY 2.0L MultiJet allowing you to drive with no problems (apart from the EXISTING pollution)?
In the USA FCA lost a lot a money cheating DIESEL emissions testing.
So to recover development costs, probably not USA, but other markets should expect this engine?
I believe the Renegade DesertHawk would be a perfect fit!
Other Jeeps could also benefit from this offering.
