Do I need to do some fancy computer reset stuff if I change my battery.

It a 2L Diesel Longitude .

Young lad in shop said I'd need to reset something so it stopped me buying it.

Seen a couple of youtubes on how to do the nuts and bolts stuff so thought I'd try it myself.
Videos never mention anything about telling the computer you had a new battery.

Edit eg. "Halfords Start/Stop batteries will require the battery to be registered with the on-board computer system, so we strongly recommend professional fitting. "

I don't believe a battery for a vehicle with auto stop/start (does your Renegade have that?) is any different from any other automotive battery in principle -- except that it needs to have sufficient capacity to handle the demands of auto stop/start.
Get the top battery - usually AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat)
Well, as I've mentioned in other threads, the Auto Stop/Start was acting up on my new 2021 Traihawk within six months. The Auto Stop/Start wasn't engaging even during long trips.

At the one-year service, the dealer determined the OEM battery was the culprit; and replaced it (free under warranty) with a new DieHard AGM battery.

I imagine Jeep/FCA had to authorize them to do that...

It's been fine ever since.
