My 2020 Renegade Trailhawk e-brake switch is stuck in the on position. When I got in my car the other day, the parking brake wouldn't disengage. There were no warning lights or error messages on the dashboard. I disconnected the negative battery post as others suggested in their post to no avail. I pulled out the manual and proceeded to follow the indicated steps: put your seatbelt on, start the car and put it in gear, depress the brake pedal and press the gas pedal. This allows me to go forward or reverse and the brake light switch shuts off but the switch remains engaged i.e., I can't press it down, it's stuck. So every time I inadvertently use the e-brake (out of habit), I have to go through that whole routine to manually disengage the e-brake which is rather unnerving when parked in a tight spot. My dealership appointment is not for another 2 weeks. Has anyone resolved this issue on their own?
PS, the procedure won't work unless you have your seatbelt on.
