Those of you who have your Renegade, how do you feel about the electric parking brake?
Is it easy enough to get used to?

In a word yes it's certainly one of the better ones I've had on a car, the worst being VW's absolute crap.
There is a little trick to getting it to disengage with out you doing it manually. While you are stopped in traffic about to pull away on the flat, a slop or reversing back up an incline, first put it in gear 1st or reverse then gentle start to engage the clutch and you will hear the revs pick up this is with out yet using the accelerator, then apply a little bit of revs and it will disengage.
If you are to abrupt with the clutch and accelerator it wont disengage, I have also noticed that the stop start works a lot better than our Alfa Romeo did which we traded in for the Renegade.

You can also set the electronic parking brake settings in the Uconnect system settings, include making automatically engage or disengage with certain criteria or situations.

On UK models there is no facility to change how the EPB works. I have checked the user manual and also gone through all the options on the 6.5 Uconnect system and the in dash system. This is a critical safety system that no manufacture allows you to muck about with?
I've had multiple brands and models with EPB's an none had any settings that a driver could alter

It worked supremely well on my test drive of a Latitude. I had put it in Park on an incline, so the car wiggled when I let off the brake, and I clicked the parking brake button and it immediately stopped moving. I put it in drive without pushing the accelerator, it didn't budge because the parking brake was still engaged. So this being my first experience with an electronic p brake, I'm impressed

Here in the UK there is no auto option yet, not available to order until July?
EPB are are fairly straight forward when combined with an auto gear box not quiet so when you have a manual one and that's when you notice good and bad ones

Yes. I have the EPB on my 2013 Scenic and I took to it like a duck to water.

Love the park brake.
Comes on when turning the car off and so handy in traffic jams, there's nothing worse that sitting behind a car that's blinding you sitting on their brakes.

Does not come on automatically in my car. First one I ever had, and I am unsure about how best to use it. Not at all confident it will turn off w/o damage every time. I use it when the parking spot terrain calls for it, and hope it will turn off automatically w/o damage if I forget. I have the auto trans. So far, so good. Had it seven months, six thousand miles.

You can use it exactly like a mechanical handbrake.

With the addition that it gets applied automatically after switching off and disengaged if you drive away without disengaging it manually.

I guess the issue is no one in the US really uses the handbrake where-as in Europe you get taught to use it as an integral part of driving. "Handbrake on, gear lever in neutral ..."

I've turned off the automatic function. I tried it when I first got the car but didn't like it (I don't remember why) and just use it like a lever operated one. Even after a couple of years I have to think a bit about using the switch instead of a lever - hard to break 45 years of brain-arm-hand hand automation.

Love it. About twice a year it has failed to engage automatically when going into "Park" but you know this has happened 'cos your foot doesn't move forward slightly as the park brake comes on.
